Digital Gardener Summit OctOBER 7, 2022 | Hine Hall @ IUPUI / Virtual

What was the Digital Gardener Summit?

The 2nd annual Digital Gardener Summit brought together individuals from across IU and beyond to engage in conversations around supporting student success through digital literacy, creativity, and the formation of essential 21st century skills. The event took place from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022 at IUPUI's Hine Hall and virtually.

A signature event for the larger Digital Gardener Initiative, the 2022 DG Summit allowed us to share digital literacy work being done on IU campuses; to provide space for faculty, staff, and administrators to engage in conversations on digital literacy; and to create opportunities for participants to collaboratively envision strategies for how best to prepare students for an increasingly digital world.

Keynote Speaker | Dr. Wanda White

The keynote, Digital Literacy and Its Impact on Student Success (abstract below) will be delivered by Dr. Wanda White, Director of the Center for Innovative and Transformative Instruction at Winston-Salem State University and Adobe Digital Literacy Thought Leader.

Abstract: The year 2020 put us all on a new journey of digital innovation. For some, resources and support were in place to help ease the transition. For others, it was an unexpected, emergency "quantum leap" into a virtual and digital world. Fast forward to now, 2022, and the question is "how are we continuing to prepare students for the impact of digital literacy for their college success?" This session will share some of the ways Winston-Salem State University is attempting to close the digital divide and equip our students with digital fluency.
