The goal of this certified CME forum is to improve physician competence in applying current clinically relevant data and expert strategies in cosmetic surgery and dermatology. An important part of this goal is to help core specialty physicians and other care providers by featuring practical tips and innovative solutions to cosmetic surgery and dermatologic challenges. To this end, over the last 10 years, Cosmetic Surgery Forum has sponsored over 685 fellows and residents in the core-specialties to attend the meeting as an important means of supplementing their education in cosmetic procedures.

In 2019, Cosmetic Surgery Forum will offer up to 75 opportunities for advanced practical training of fellows and residents. Key aspects of the activity will include improving clinician understanding of the scientific concepts and clinical data related to neurotoxin therapy, cosmetic dermal fillers, cosmetics/cosmeceuticals/retinoids, fat treatments, combination treatments, non-invasive skin tightening, use of lasers and energy-based devices for skin and feminine rejuvenation, treatment of scars and hyperpigmentation, as well as developments in ingredients, technologies and techniques in the pipeline both in the United States and internationally.

Also, included will be an analysis and discussion of risk management in medical practice, problem solving and proper patient disclosure, negotiation and contracts, effective patient consultations and treatment selection, patient communication and privacy issues and practical discussion of staffing, training and human resources issues. New sessions and topics of interest include treatment regimens for aging patients, combination therapies, use of hyaluronic acid hydrogels, new treatments for seborrheic keratosis and warts, breakthrough treatments for skin of color and the impact of artificial intelligence for electronic health records.
