Farm Bureau awards scholarship

Grace McBride of Twin City was recently awarded the 2021 Dolan E. Brown Memorial Scholarship by Emanuel County Farm Bureau. McBride is a 2021 honor graduate of Emanuel County Institute. She was active in 4-H, FFA, FBLA and FCCLA. While in 4-H, McBride served on the Southeast District Junior Board and Senior Board VP. In FFA, she served as president and junior advisor and area 4 central region officer. McBride received the Governor’s Honor in Agriculture, was a Master 4-Her (2) and earned her state FFA degree. This past year, McBride served as a national delegate for the National FFA Convention and Expo.
Her community service has included helping in local food banks, making and donating masks to school bus drivers for students and helping civic clubs. McBride has led Around the World Day Camp for three years, giving kids a safe environment to stay physically, mentally, and socially active during summer months as well as teaching lessons from different countries, crafts and food.
McBride will be attending Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College to earn a bachelor’s degree in agriculture education. After obtaining a master’s degree, she plans to teach agriculture, “So that every student will understand where their food comes from and finds their passion in the agricultural industry”.

McBride is the daughter of Jim and Amy McBride of Twin City. She attends Hawhammock Baptist Church and is a member of the youth worship team.
Dolan E. Brown Memorial Scholarship
Dolan Brown served as Emanuel County Farm Bureau president from 1963 to 1983 and was a member of the Board of Directors until his death in 2006. He served on the Georgia Farm Bureau State Board of Directors for 40 years. Mr. Brown was very active in the agriculture sector, serving on various commodity boards, as well being active in his church and community.
