    Govt allows export of 50 lakh PPE medical coveralls per month

    “Boosting Make in India exports, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) medical coveralls for COVID-19 have been allowed with a monthly export quota of 50 lakh,” said commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal in a tweet. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) amended the export policy “to the extent that PPE medical coveralls…are now restricted for exports”.

    New Delhi: The government on Monday allowed the export of personal protective equipment(PPE) medical coveralls with a monthly quota of 50 lakh. The exports were prohibited till now.

    “Boosting Make in India exports, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) medical coveralls for COVID-19 have been allowed with a monthly export quota of 50 lakh,” said commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal in a tweet.

    The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) amended the export policy “to the extent that PPE medical coveralls…are now restricted for exports”.

    “A monthly quota of 50 lakh PPE medical coverall has been fixed for issuance of export licenses to the eligible applicants,” DGFT said in a notification.

    ET had reported last week that India is likely to open up next week the export of PPE, five months after the government banned its shipments abroad due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

    The textiles ministry, which has asked the industry to prepare for international certifications to be able to begin exports, said it has a disposable surplus of 50 lakh PPEs which can be exported.

    In a separate trade notice, DGFT said that applications filed from first to third day of each month will be considered for the quota of that month and validity of the export license will be for three months.
