With you, C&FS EAP is heartbroken to hear the devastating news about the mass shooting here in Buffalo. We mourn the loss of life and are concerned about the injured and those traumatized by the events that have unfolded. We also recognize that this was a directed attack on our community, specifically people of color. This has highlighted that our community is vulnerable, and we have work to do to address the violence and hatred that is present among us. At this time, we must come together to denounce the hatred that divides us and support one another through grief.

Yesterday’s events may impact many of our members, and C&FS EAP is here with information and support. Attached is a flyer formatted for distribution to members about the impact of and how to respond to distressing events. Events such as these are traumatic and threaten our sense of safety and security, activating our stress response. When our stress response is activated, it is normal to experience feelings of anxiety, hypervigilance, distraction, and anger.

We recommend continued visibility of C&FS EAP services and encourage leaders to consult with EAP staff on ways to further support during this time, as needed. We are here for you, with counselors available for support.  Please share the attached information with our contact information, including the 24/7 support line, 716-681-4300.
