What is the Table of the King Gala? The Table of the King is a symbol of family, community, and faithful presence. It is a symbol of our deep desire to be known and loved. God sets a table for us and joins us around it. As a young woman, foundress of the Sisters of Providence, Sister Émilie Tavernier Gamelin, was committed to serving the poor and the vulnerable. She opened her home to provide meals for those in need and called it, “Table of the King”.
The University of Providence leans on a strong foundation of courage, resolve, and principle. Today the university continues to honor the sisters’ aspirational vision by providing an enriched education that goes beyond schooling.
This year at the Table of the King Gala, the University of Providence will work together with our community and sponsors to raise funds for student scholarships. Receiving an education at UP goes beyond a degree. Our students gain a greater connection to themselves, their communities, and to each other. Just as Sister Émilie Gamelin was committed to serving the poor, so are we committed to serving our students and our community; the University of Providence is the table, the nourishment is education, and those being served are our students and our community.
