SCRIPT: Hi, My name is _______ and I am calling on behalf of the Illinois Coalition for Fair Housing. Is Representative ________ available?
I'd like to talk to them about their support for HB2775. (Wait for response. They might not be available due to session.)
I would like to let Representative ___________ know that I whole-heartedly appreciate their vote for House Bill 2775 when it was first introduced in the House last year. Now that the bill has passed the full Senate and is back at the House for Concurrence, I am calling to once again urge the Representative to vote YES in order to finally end Source of Income Discrimination in Housing. (Modify as needed: As a senior, as a person with a disability, as an advocate for_____, this bill is very important to me because it would mean that if I needed to rely on other forms of rent payment like veteran vouchers, social security benefits or housing choice vouchers, I wouldn't have to worry about being turned away from available housing and face homelessness.) It will also have a positive impact on over 2.7 Million families in Illinois who use non-wage forms of income to pay for rent, including social security, alimony, housing subsidies including veteran vouchers and housing choice vouchers. Also, I just want to mention that this Illinois Source of Income Campaign has the support of over 135 organizations, businesses and elected officials who signed on to support this bill. I'm happy to send over the latest Info Sheet on the bill for the Rep's convenience. https://bit.ly/SOIFACTSHEET2
(If they commit to YES vote.) We appreciate Rep _____ for taking a stand against housing discrimination.
