In 2021 , the UN Secretary-General António Guterres will convene a Food Systems Summit to raise global awareness and land global commitments and actions that transform food systems to resolve not only hunger, but also to reduce diet-related disease and heal the planet. The Food Systems Summit seeks to maximize the co-benefits of a food systems approach across the entire 2030 Agenda and meet the challenges of climate change, using a framework of planetary boundaries.

The United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth (UNMGCY) is working closely with the UN Food Systems Secretariat to facilitate meaningful youth engagement in the lead up to the summit. This is a platform for all people in the Australia and Pacific Islands region to engage on matters concerning food systems.

The summit is calling for multi-level action, which means that it will require effort from everyone to realize these calls. It will require change from individuals at home, communities, local government, national policy makers, the private sector, global organizations, everyone.

For us to do this, we’re going to need the participation and support from as many passionate individuals as we can.
