Facilitated and Sponsored by the DC Peace Team

Date: March 23rd, 7:00-8:30 pm EST
Location: ONLINE (Zoom link provided about 24 hrs. before the session)**
For questions contact Debra Budiani-Saberi at debra@cofs.org

We will explore the broad and deep topic of aging through a restorative practice lens. Session 1 will explore practical aspects of aging and passing which often are not ready to tackle. Session 2 will consider the challenges and complications of the aging process, particularly affecting family and friends i.e. health, money, rapid decline, slow decline, etc. Session 3 will explore family dynamics and managing conflict when members differ on how matters should be handled. Session 4 will explore forgiveness and grief. What does forgiving others and ourselves entail? How do we make space and manage grief?

Potential Objectives:
     1. Reflect on connections between aging, restorative practices, and connection
     2. Engage together in communicative practices
     3. Share experiences of personal practices regarding aging

This training is provided by the DC Peace Team, which empowers ordinary civilians to increasingly serve their communities particularly as nonviolent peacekeepers, and by extension as peacemakers and peacebuilders. The DC Peace Team lives this mission by deploying unarmed civilian protection and accompaniment units, providing training in various nonviolent skills, and facilitating dialogues and restorative justice approaches.
