Yale Effective Altruism Fellowship Application
Effective altruism is about answering one simple question: how can we use our resources to help others the most? It's about being generous with your time and your money to do the most good you can. YEA's Fellowship is an intensive and rewarding semester-long program for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students to deeply engage with ideas and strategies for improving the world through evidence and reason. Our goal is to help prepare students to maximize their positive impact in the future.  

The Fellowship is also the best way to get involved with YEA and become part of our community. We expect you to remain engaged after your first semester, and many graduating fellows go on to join the board, helping to organize events and activities for our members and for the wider Yale community.
What does the Fellowship consist of?
We are eager to provide an engaging and personalized experience for each of our selected Fellows. For that reason, the Fellowship has evolved with each new cohort and we hope this semester will be our best yet.

Fellows will gain the following benefits:

- Participate in an intensive Introductory Workshop
- Confront both philosophical and practical questions in weekly discussions
- Benefit from individual 1-on-1 mentorship and career-planning
- Gain access to exclusive discussions with professors and select socials
- Join a dedicated and passionate community

Who should apply?
In order to get the most out of this program, Yale Effective Altruism Fellows will be:

- Committed to helping others
- Driven to do as much good as they can
- Excited to dedicate their career to doing good and/or to donate a portion of their income
- Open-minded and flexible, eager to update their beliefs in response to persuasive evidence
- Willing and able to commit ~3-4 hours per week for the Spring '22 semester
How to apply
To be considered for the Fellowship, submit this application form by 11:59pm, Sunday, February 6, 2022.

We are committed to building a diverse cohort of Fellows. Evidence suggests that underprivileged individuals tend to underestimate their abilities. We do not want the application process to dissuade potential candidates and we strongly encourage interested students to apply regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, ability, etc. We also encourage both undergraduate and graduate/professional students, as well as individuals from all intellectual backgrounds and majors to apply.

While we unfortunately will not have the capacity to admit every student who applies this semester, there will be another round of applications next semester.
