Sisters Advocating Globally is a UISG initiative to empower Catholic Sisters in tackling global development challenges. This is our response to Pope Francis’ invitation: “Let us return to promoting the good, for ourselves and for the whole human family, and thus advance together towards an authentic and integral growth.” – Fratelli Tutti, 113

We have three overarching aims: to create spaces for dialogue on development; to build the profile of Sisters as key players in realising the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals; and to build capacity for women religious in advocacy and communication.

This initiative was launched in July 2020 with support from the Global Solidarity Fund, a unique alliance catalysing partnerships across the development sector, the private sector and Catholic communities. Since then, we have supported hundreds of Sister within and beyond the UISG network.

We have developed a framework for advocacy on human trafficking and ecology, in collaboration with UISG projects Talitha Kum and Sowing Hope for the Planet. In 2023, we are also supporting UISG’s International Migration project and expanding our work on healthcare.
