A REMINDER TO PARENTS with students on campus:

During school hours if your child is SICK, please have them go to the nurse and the nurse will call you to pick them up. We encourage this procedure instead of the student calling you from their cell phone to check them out.
Also, please go to the Creekside website link below to find the appropriate forms to have your child checked out from school for appointments off campus during the school day. The student will bring in the Early Dismissal form first thing in the morning on the day they are to be checked out early and they will receive a pass to get out of class or to drive if they are a driver.  It is the responsibility of the front office staff to minimize class disruptions during instruction time.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
This year, the Absentee Form will be submitted online. Please use the Online Absentee Form link or QR code provided to submit a note when your student in absent. Online absence notes are required to be submitted within 2 days of the student returning back to Creekside in order to be excused.

US Presidential Scholars in Career and Technical Education Program

The U.S. Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964, by executive order of the President, to recognize and honor some of the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors. The program was extended in 2015 to recognize students who demonstrate ability and accomplishment in career and technical education fields.

Creekside High School is proud to announce that Elyse Soracco, a student in the Engineering Academy and a recipient of the American Youth Character Award, has been selected to represent St. Johns County School District as their U.S. Presidential Scholar in Career and Technical Education. Elyse has already built quite the resume by being ranked in the top 3% of her class, while taking numerous Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment courses. She is President of SWE (Society of Women in Engineering) this year, and is an active member of National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, FBLA, Creekside Cross-country, and Creekside Track and Field, serving as Team Captain. She holds the school record in ladies javelin throw and placed 6th Nationally in FBLA 3-D Animation competition when she was a sophomore. Elyse also serves as the Project Manager of Creekside’s national-level ACE Mentorship Program team, and still finds time to work as a tutor at Mathnasium. Kevin Davenport, Elyse’s engineering teacher, quotes “Elyse is a highly disciplined and an extremely well-rounded student. She is an asset to her community, to Creekside High School, and to Creekside’s Engineering Academy. She is a good natured individual and a gracious mentor to her peers. Elyse’s technical skills, experience, maturity, discipline, intelligence, and composure are the epitome of what this award represents.”

Congratulations Elyse!

This school year Creekside students will have the opportunity to reach out to colleges and universities virtually. This means Creekside will not host face-to-face visits on campus. Instead, the link below provides student with admission contact information and virtual tour links to view after the school day.

Virtual information will be updated frequently. However, if you are interested in a college/university, please checkout their websites. More than ever, it is easy to find virtual presentations, tours, and admissions contact information.

College & Career Night 2020

After careful consideration, St. Johns County School District will not be hosting the Annual District College & Career Night that was scheduled for September 9th 2020 at Pedro Menendez High School. Instead, students are encouraged to register for any of the upcoming virtual NACAC fairs. College representatives may continue to schedule virtual or in-person visits to local high schools. Details are forthcoming from Creekside.

For the virtual NACAC Fairs, more than 600 colleges and universities will be online to talk with high school students on each of these dates this fall:

  • Sunday, Oct. 18 from 12 – 8 p.m. ET
  • Sunday, Nov. 8 from 2 – 10 p.m. ET

Each virtual fair is a free, one-day event. Attend as often as you like. Parents invited, too.

Register at virtualcollegefairs.org and then log in on the fair dates using your phone or computer.
Create your itinerary by selecting which colleges you’re interested in and attend their live and interactive Zoom sessions. Also available are NACAC Meet-Ups on finding your best college fit, paying for college, and more.

Sessions cover topics such as how to apply, financial aid, student life, and more. Watch, learn, and get your questions answered about academics, athletics, diversity, study abroad, and other topics. You can also meet one-on-one with a college’s admission counselor by choosing a convenient virtual meeting date and time.

Mini Camp College
Given the inability to host programs in person during spring/summer 2020, but holding to our unwavering commitment to demystify the complexities of college admissions and promote access to higher education to first-generation/underrepresented students, the Inclusion, Access, and Success Committee devised a way to deliver this content in a virtual format through a series of five Mini Camp College webinars. These webinars have now concluded. We invite you to share the links below with your students and their families as they navigate their college search and application process.

·        How to Navigate your College Search During Covid-19 (view the session here)
·        Standardized Testing (view the session here)
·        Resumes & Activities Lists (view the session here)
·        How to Apply to College and Write an Effective Essay (view the session here)

A big thanks to all who organized and presented these sessions allowing SACAC to deliver important information during this time.
*The sessions links are also available on the Mini Camp College page on the SACAC website if you simply want to share the page.
