The Expert Peer Review Group (EPRG) comprises over 20 scientific and technical experts and practitioners, who make recommendations to the Climate Champions Team on Race to Zero’s criteria, and Partner initiatives. The EPRG are tasked with:

  • Leading the criteria consultation process to set science-aligned criteria. The starting line criteria and leadership practices are then submitted to the High Level Climate Champions for their review and approval;
  • Updating the interpretation guide, to provide greater clarity on the application of Race to Zero’s criteria;
  • Reviewing Race to Zero Partner applications and providing independent recommendations to the High-Level Climate Champions on whether these initiatives meet the minimum criteria for participation;
  • Reviewing Partners to assess progress and look to provide support and guidance for any potential development or needed alignment to the Race to Zero criteria. If Partners are deemed to no longer be capable of managing their members to the criteria, the EPRG will recommend their removal from the campaign.

EPRG members serve in their individual capacity, not as representatives of their organisations, and are not compensated or remunerated for their time. The EPRG full Terms of Reference can be accessed here.
