Staples introduces new 'squad' for remote workers

Staples is helping remote workers refurbish their workspaces.

Move aside, geeks, Staples has a new squad that is all about style.

The office supply giant is launching the Work From Home (WFH) Style Squad, a group of designers, entrepreneurs, and creative professionals who will share design advice, product picks, and tips for remote workers to refresh their home office space using new products and services available at Staples.

Led by California-based interior designer and builder Jasmine Roth, the WFH Style Squad is being offered in response to the growth of the hybrid work model since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Advice and encouragement from the WFH Style Squad is free.

Among the offerings are a 500-sq.-ft. community space and a dedicated podcast studio. The Staples Connect format is also home to Staples’ co-working concept, Staples Studio. The merchandise layout is designed around solutions for home offices, small businesses, and classrooms. The update includes nearly 1,000 new products and 40 new brands such as Apple, Sonos, and Bose.

In addition, every Staples Connect store offers tech services, print & marketing services, TSA pre-check enrollment and professional services —including marketing, legal and tax and finance — offered by selected partners.

“With so many of our customers settling into a more long-term work from home situation, Staples is continuously updating our assortment to make sure we carry new, stylish pieces to offer them a total home office solution,” said Marshall Warkentin, chief marketing and merchandising officer, Staples U.S. Retail. “We are thrilled to partner with Jasmine Roth and the WFH Style Squad to bring our customers the tools and inspiration they need to fuel their productivity, at home or in the office.”

Staples can assist in outfitting an entire work-from-home space according to a customer’s personal style, with products ranging from furniture to supplies. Specific items that the Style Squad can include in a workspace refresh/redesign include chairs; desks; lighting fixtures; connected technology products like headphones, monitors and chargers; and accessories such as corkboards and desk components.

“We are spending more time than ever before in our remote workspaces,” said Jasmine Roth, interior designer and builder. “I believe creating a space that is both functional and stylish can inspire us as we conquer our to-do lists. Staples has a lot of fun stuff in store for this year, and I’m excited to team up with their WFH Style Squad to inspire fans to create the home office of their dreams.”

Customers can follow the WFH Style Squad on social with the hashtags @StaplesStores and #WFHStyleSquad. Staples is offering up to 40% off select chairs and 25% off select home office products, including chair mats, lighting, file cabinets, bookcases, décor and desk accessories, when customers buy a chair or a desk from now through Feb. 26.

Headquartered in Framingham, Mass., Staples operates more than 1,000 stores across the U.S., as well as over 300 Canadian stores.
