What is 3d Printing?
By definition:
According to the dictionary, 3D printing is the process of making a physical object from a three-dimensional digital model, typically by layering.

At ATC we encourage our students to learn something new! You can stop by to practice making 3D models, print them, and even use them for class!
Athens Technical College provides free 3D printing for students!
Did you know that you can visit an ATC library location to print for free? Students may print up to 15 hours per week for free!

Each of 3D printers requires a specific type of slicing program. This allows the object to be created on your printer of choice!
We offer:
- Zortrax = ZSuite
- Flashforge = FlashPrint
- Makerbot = Makerbot Print

Filament is the material used to 3D print. Athens Tech 3D printers use 2 types of filament, ABS and PLA
What is filament?
ABS
- Not food safe
- Used on Zortrax only
- Must have ventilation (provided at locations with Zortrax machines)
PLA
- Stronger than ABS
- Great for 3D pens
- Used for Makerbot & Flashforge machines
- Does not require extra ventilation
- Much more biodegradable
