Social Emotional Learning in Action: Experiential Activities to Positively Impact School Climate

This webinar is a condensed version of our full-day workshop. We use an activity-based approach to delve into our book, Social Emotional Learning in Action (SELA). SELA is based on the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning’s (CASEL) core competencies and provides 36 developmentally sequenced lessons. Using an intentional blend of interactive activity and PowerPoint; participants will have the opportunity to learn about experiential cornerstones and SEL in a fun, engaging way.  Book not included in webinar’s fee.

Empathy: A Cornerstone of Social Emotional Learning

Social Awareness and Relationship Skills are two of the core competencies of Social Emotional Learning as defined by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL). Empathy is the glue that holds these two competencies together. Our ability to nurture & teach empathy is necessary for a well-rounded educational experience and vital to healthy students, schools and communities. This interactive webinar will expose participants to the science and pedagogy of empathy-based programming and offer tools and activities that can be used immediately with your students.

Activities to Build Community Norms in the Classroom through SEL-based activities 

Community Norms are a cornerstone of experiential learning. Responsive Classroom calls them “Classroom Rules.”  At The Browne Center, we call them “Full Value Contracts.”  Regardless of the term, co-creating specific and relevant community norms with our students sets everyone up for social/emotional and academic success.
