City officials and commuters are looking for answers from lawmakers and the MTA on how the newest congestion pricing plan will be carried out.  

Members of the city’s Committee of Transportation and Infrastructure say they have plenty of questions.  

“Increasing taxes, fares, tolls, congestion pricing… where is all this money going?” said Councilmember Ari Kagan. “Why do we need all these streams of revenue? If we just raised fares and tolls, why do we need another?” 

The congestion pricing plan would add surcharges for people driving south of 60th St. in Manhattan, which can total anywhere from $9 to $23 per day. The plan could be implemented as soon as next spring.  

Tiffany-Ann Taylor, vice president for transportation at the Regional Plan Association, thinks this plan is a long-term investment for the city’s future.  

“It will give more investment, so there can be other system-wide improvements in security features, station accessibility for folks with mobility issues,” said Taylor.  

Thursday’s meeting will take place tomorrow in the City Hall chambers.
