Aspen
I gave my heart to a Navy SEAL.
He took it with him to his grave.
Eleven years later, ignoring the yawning void is as automatic as breathing. Working brutal hours, dating a comfortably commitment-phobic guy, hanging with my best friends. Anything until exhaustion—or an extra glass of wine—claims my consciousness.

My neighbor’s handsome, enigmatic son invades my comfort zone.
He says he’s a tattoo artist. But Anderson Hawkins’ piercing green eyes, mastery of the short answer, weird schedule, and military ink tell a different story.
His touch ignites a long-dead flame inside me. A flame I’m afraid to examine too closely, even as I’m drawn to its heat.

Anderson

I retired from Delta Force
Now I work at a high-intelligence security agency
But working undercover isn’t the adrenaline rush it used to be.
For one thing, my Mom’s illness shifted my priorities to finding a way to save her. For another, her neighbor next door, whose prickly defenses belie the unflinchingly caring heart underneath, has slipped under my skin. Now my mission is to convince her it’s safe to unlock her heart. Because I’m ready to give her mine.

Note: This contemporary romance contains a wary, overworked doctor who’s a military widow in every way but name, an ex-military hero accustomed to treading dangerous ground, brought together by a few unexpected twists and turns—and maybe the machinations of a cute dog.

So I got to a point in Until I Fall where I thought if I don't stop highlighting I'm going to have the whole book highlighted because there are so many awesome quotes in this book.

Aspen & Anderson are two characters that are so easy for you to fall in love with. They are so well rounded & developed. Loved them & the supporting characters so much.

Aspen was crushed at a young age and decided to throw herself into her work & never let her walls down. She couldn't risk letting someone in and losing everything again. Hawk works in a dangerous field of work, never imaging he'd ever want someone to come home to each night. Sometimes he never knows if he will even make it out alive. When these two meet it's like the stars are perfectly aligned. While Hawk lets her know exactly what he wants, Aspen doesn't think she can let him in because to her past.

"I want her by my side. I want her lips, her body. I want her soul. Most of all, I want t0 give her my heart."

Aspen tries to resist but Hawk is nothing but persistent. She can't live through another heartbreak and doesn't want to set herself up for on.

"This is right, my heart agrees and my soul demands it." "I'm broken. My heart is shattered. It's impossible to fix it."

This is such an emotional read, not just because of the story between Aspen & Hawk but their stories with other characterss in the book. I don't want to give any of it away, so you'll just have to read it to find out what I'm refering to.

Claudia Burgoa is a phenonemal author & Until I fall is a perfect example of her brilliant work.

“For years I avoided feelings. I moved around, evading big emotions. Yet here I am, falling madly, deeply in love with a man who faces danger for a living.”

Dr Aspen Zimmerman has known love and tragically lost it. She’s estranged from her mother. She lives with one of her best friends, a fellow doctor. She’s been ticking over for eleven years, mostly alone or with ‘safe’ guys, who don’t demand more that she’s willing or able to give. She’s avoided feeling anything really deep and meaningful.

“I want her by my side. I want her lips, her body. I want her soul. Most of all, I want to give her my heart.”

Anderson ‘Hawk’ Hawkins has never been in love. He’s been devoted to his military career, and now he works for a company that walks the fine line between legal and unlawful - all for the greater good. He’s doesn’t have relationships. It's definitely uncharted territory for him.

When they first meet, there’s an immediate connection between them. He sparks feelings in Aspen that jump start her heart to life and scare her. She makes him feel emotions that are alien to him and prompt him to re-evaluate his lifestyle.

““I hate that I like being around him, he makes me…feel.” Feel different. Feel cherished. Feel alive.”

Anderson’s mother, Sophia, is Aspen’s neighbour and very ill. The two are drawn together through their mutual chemistry and their care of Sophia. As they grow closer, Aspen has to overcome her fear of falling in love, again, while Anderson has to deal with the prospect of losing a loved one, as well as trying to show Aspen that he’ll be there to catch her. On top of all this, there’s his job, which brings a whole host of dangers.

“Sometimes the best part of the journey is falling, gliding, and never letting it go.”

This was a really moving and heartbreaking story. It was about loss, healing, friendship, forgiveness, trust, but most of all, it’s about the power of love, in all its forms. It was about two people who fought hard to overcome fears and obstacles so they could have a future together. There were also plenty of sexy moments and funny moments. Anderson and Aspen were a beautiful pairing.

“Life doesn’t have to be long; it has to be well lived.”

To me, Anderson had a massively high swoon factor – he was gentle and patient with Aspen when he needed to be but he pushed when he needed to. He seemed to know her so well and could see that her body warred with her mind. Above all, he never stopped caring and never stopped believing that he and Aspen could have a future together. Aspen is a strong person with a lot of issues but when life makes her stop and think about what’s REALLY important, only then is she willing to face her fears head-on and fight for what her heart desires.

Without giving away any real spoilers, a couple of things in this novel really resonated with me. I identified with certain things and completely empathised. Fair warning: you may well need tissues to get your through this book!

At times you read a book that touches your soul. One that hits all the bases for a number one romance and Claudia Burgoa has done it again with Until I Fall. Claudia has written a stunning love story set around heartbreaking loss and overcoming grief but with hope and promise of tomorrows. Aspen & Anderson have such a strong connection and a way of healing each other that you'll get drawn into the their story from the first chapter. Aspen is a strong female lead but so broken that she's thrown herself into her work and forgot to live for herself for far to long. When Anderson comes into her life, Aspen doesn't want to love but love finds her. Anderson is a swoon worthy Hero that anyone would be hard pressed not to fall for. Strong, ex-military turned tattoo artist, Anderson heals Aspen but also finds that she grounds him when he least expects it. I loved this beautifully layered romance that didn't follow the stereotypical formula. Once I picked up this story I was hooked and wanted to know how Aspen & Anderson's story would end. I did squeal like school girl when Mason and the men of HIB Securities! I love that we are now seeing characters from Claudia's Unexpected series showing up in her new stories and weaving together new and characters we already love. I know I won't be the only one waiting on the edge of my seat for the next installment of HIB Securities... 5 "M&M" Stars ~ A top Read of 2017 for Until I Fall from Claudia Burgoa

descriptionThis is a pretty great cover. It's a good representation of the story. It has great composition (for the most part). It's eye-catching and original. The only thing "I" don't care for is the type used for the title. It's weird that the "u" and the "i" are lowercase and that throws off the composition a bit. I would have gone with a font that had a bit more unity in regards to the size of the different charactersdescription

This one was just OK for me. There wasn't anything overtly wrong with it. The writing was okay. The plot was all right. The characters were likable enough. I didn't feel a great connection between them, unfortunately. I am sure I was meant to, but to be honest, I felt more passion between the heroine and her dead fiancee in the first chapter then I did between her and the hero for the entirety of the book.

I also found it SO long and SO slow moving. Like, mind numbingly slow. I almost felt like there were too many different side stories going on (Aspen's issues with her Mom & work, Her Dad's death, Anderson's Moms cancer, Anderson's super secret job). On top of that, it was also incredibly melancholy. This is not a light-hearted book, and while there is nothing wrong with that, FOR ME, it just overshadowed EVERYTHING.

So like I said it was OK. I think the author could have tightened the plot up A LOT and dropped a bunch of unnecessary (IMO) scenes that would have improved the overall pace of the book. But it certainly wasn't the worst book I have ever read.

I love discovering new authors and then when their work just resonates with me. Well it doesn't get any better than that. Until I Fall by Claudia Burgoa was a fabulous and emotional story about love, fear and letting go. Rediscovering yourself and your passions in life.

Aspen was a terrific character. I enjoyed her journey. It had everything in terms of emotions. Her losing her love of four years was well depicted and I felt her pain and her reasons for closing herself off and staying numb. Her friends Scarlett and Brooklyn were great too. Those three amigas definitely added some light and humor to the story.
Anderson was swoon worthy and beautifully flawed just like Aspen. His strength and determination to push Aspen out of her void was something he wouldn't give up on.
Their chemistry and connection was undeniable and I loved every time they were around each other or together.
His and Aspen's relationship with his mother Sophia was so emotional and pulled at my heartstrings. Those scenes showed so much unconditional love and support.

One thing I would have love was more scenes with Aspen and Anderson. I thought they spent too much time apart. I understand that it's Aspen's journey but I loved and enjoyed them together and they played a huge role in each other's growth.
This was such a wonderful and beautiful story with layered characters that I cheered for from start to finish. A well developed story that Claudia Burgoa created flawlessly.

Until I Fall is so much deeper story than just romance. Burn out Aspen was dealing with her loss ans her job. A chance encointer with Anderson changed her life.
Anderson is such a sweet hero. He is patient, loving and fierce.

Miss Burgoa proves herself to be a writer who can write comedy and contemporary romance. The story is sweet, easy to follow and have a lot of moral messages.

There is so much that I like about this author's writing but for some reason this book just didn't flow very well for me . I kept picking it up again and again but it still seemed like it literally took me ages to finish reading it.
I loved so much of the heroine's narrative (some clever, witty and intelligent writing) and the story was good but overall it was just an okay read for me unlike my other two reads by this author - "Maybe Later" and "Once Upon a Holiday"- which I both really enjoyed.

Anderson and Aspen's story is a heartwarming and tear-jerking story that will stay with you long after the last word.

 photo until_zpsq3eu1nf7.jpg

Claudia is the mistress of family romance. She's has this uncanny knack for weaving the characters so tight that the sense of family just leaps off the pages. This story is no different. I truly enjoyed all the characters, although the jury's out on Scarlett. I loved that she was part of this story, but I want her story because I want to love her. Right now, I just want to smack her upside the head. So, Claudia, bring it!

The H/h, Anderson and Aspen are complex, well developed characters with a lot of story going on.

But, I'm not going to lie to you, this is a heavy read. You'll need tissues and it will rip your heart out.

Fortunately, we do get our HEA and the promise of more stories about the other characters!

Nope. I let it slide when the author made the ridiculous statement that "the EMTs didn't know what to do, so they just drove him to the hospital and left him in a hallway". (Having been an EMT at one point in my life...this would never fucking happen.) But I cant overlook the numerous errors. "Accelerating" when it should have been exhilarating. "Riffle" when she meant rifle. I'm out. DNF

This is my first Claudia Burgoa book and I must say that I liked it. It was good, if not a little longer than I expected.

Aspen Zimmerman is a dedicated ER doctor who has been coasting through life ever since the death of her fiance 11 years ago. His tragic death marked Aspen deeply and affected every facets of her life. Despite many years have already passed since his death, it seems like Aspen still haven't truly moved on and lived until she meets Anderson Hawkins.

Anderson is the mysterious son of Aspen's neighbor. He's the guy who truly knocked Aspen off her feet so to speak after the death of fiance. Despite the intense attraction between them, Aspen is wary and closed off. Anderson for his part wants Aspen but he's keeping secrets from her. Secrets that might very well affect her.

The relationship started off slow, which I liked. It's always fun for me to read about two people who are obviously attracted to each other trying to navigate the hows and the when and the whys. Claudia Burgoa really went deep into Aspen's psyche as to why she's reluctant to commit to Anderson. It's the same for Anderson. We get to know him as he interacts with people aside from Aspen. Although I think that Aspen is more fleshed out than Anderson. Still, I liked the dynamics between them. The sexy times are steamy and emotional. And the secondary characters are also fleshed out and well written.

But there are times when I feel like I don't even know what the book is trying to be? Is it a straight-up emotional contemporary romance? A romantic suspense with bad guys and firefights? Is it a family drama/mystery? Is it paranormal romance? Okay, the last one was a bit reaching but you get my drift. While these elements were not a total slog, it made added length to the book.

And there are some story lines that were added like That felt a little shoehorned and I didn't really care much for it. Even the girls' relationship with Anderson's mother felt impersonal because while Aspen might have mentioned her, I had no context whatsoever about their relationship prior to Anderson and Aspen meeting.

There are also some story threads that were introduced that were not properly tied up in the end Even her relationship with Scarlett (Michael's sister) which was set up really well (I loved the tension between them) was wrapped up too quickly. I would've preferred that the book focused on that and Aspen's relationship with her ex's family because that seemed like a huge issue between them. Instead we get to see Anderson in action during one of his missions which wasn't bad but it didn't do anything for me.

Overall, I did like Until We Fall. There were some really heartwarming and emotional moments in the book that really got to me. But there were also moments where I felt, "Eh" and not really feeling it. But everything is subjective. What didn't work for me might work for others. All I know is that I will definitely try more of this author's books in the future.

I have to be honest, this book was painful to read. There are an OVERWHELMING amount of typos, grammatical mistakes, and editing gaffes, that I don't know where to begin to detail them all.

This book read like a rough draft. Clearly, the author's beta team, editors, and proofreaders let her down in a very big way. Yes, I know that no book out there is perfect, no manuscript is without error. However, I highlighted 65+ mistakes in this book. And I have NO copy editing or proofreading training, so imagine how many there really were!

Mistakes of this magnitude greatly affect my enjoyment of a book because I am constantly pulled out of the narrative to try and decipher exactly what the author was trying to convey, and I'm not always successful because the writing is just so confusing.

The only redeeming quality of this book for me was a mildly interesting storyline, and even that started to fall apart towards the end of the novel. If I were asked for advice, I would suggest clearing out your pre-publication team (because they have done you no favors) and bring people on board who are knowledgeable, experienced, and helpfully critical.

As always, I have notes & screen caps if confirmation if desired. (Spoiler alert: It never is **shrug**)

3 stars. Or even less.

Where do I start?..

I was excited about the book, because the blurb was perfect. And the beginning was good, even if hearthbreaking. After some introduction to current day the heroine met the hero and their exchange was funny - and I wanted to know more.

But then something shifted. The writing was not consistently good, it switched around as if the author couldn't really decide what style she wanted to write. She jumped into scenes where the reader had to adjust to understand what and why was happening. Probably Ms. Burgoa's way of making it interesting. It didn't work, it made the book feel butchered and badly edited.

The language.
It was mostly plain, but at times it got so very wannabe poetic, it was ridiculous. And the poetry spilled out of people's mouths, like someone would really talk like that.

“I told you, everything with you magnifies into the biggest exponent, infinite. My love for you is eternal, I fell hard.”

or

There’s something in the way your heart beats that tells me I’m safe with you.

pfffft

The main characters.
I don't know. They felt like sketches, like the author had an idea about who they were, but had no idea of how to deepen them.

The drama.
The heroine struggled with the death of her boyfriend, with the death her father, with her work and a bad relationship with her mother. The hero struggled with his work, the health and then death of his mother, and the relationship with the heroine... Plus, SO MUCH was happening around and with side characters (I couldn't care less about).

Could there BE any more storylines in a book under 300 pages?!

PS. Could authors PLEASE FREAKING PLEASE STOP referring to Fifty Shades of Shit as "THE kinky read of all times"? *facepalm* Sadly, the reference was made at the end of the book - if she would've mentioned it in the beginning I would've dropped it like a hot potato and saved myself some time. Jeeez.

Anyway, I give it 3 stars because the book was apparently very personal to the author, but I will not be reading more.

When Aspen Zimmerman was in medical school, she was engaged to the man of her dreams, a Navy SEAL named Michael who also happened to be her best friend’s older brother. After each mission, Michael always came back to Aspen, no matter what. But only weeks before their wedding, Michael unexpectedly dies and leaves Aspen with inescapable grief. Now 11-years later, Aspen still hasn’t healed from Michael’s loss. She overwhelms her days with back-to-back shifts at the ER and a free clinic. She’s been dating the same guy for two years, but it feels more like a friendship rather than love. But one night when suffering from insomnia after an especially trying shift, she goes outside with her dog Hugo and runs into her neighbor’s son.

Anderson Hawkins is a veteran Army Ranger and now works for a private security company. When his mother is diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, he vows to be there for her through her time of need. One night he goes outside for a breather and meets his mom’s neighbor, Aspen.

The two of them develop a friendship. Anderson knows how to distract Aspen from her grief and her day-to-day struggles, while Aspen knows firsthand how to help Anderson with his mother and her care. Anderson is instantly smitten with Aspen, but she tries to deny her romantic feelings toward him. She doesn’t want to yet again fall in love with a man who could ultimately leave her, just like Michael. Aspen wants to keep her heart under lock and key, but Anderson is hard not to fall in love with, whether Aspen likes it or not.

Until I Fall by Claudia Burgoa is a military romance that tackles several heavier topics. I wanted to love this book, as I am a military spouse myself, but this one didn’t meet my expectations whatsoever. I found that this book had way too much going on. We have Aspen’s past grief—over her fiancé and dad, Aspen’s work troubles, friendship troubles, complicated mother/daughter relationship, Anderson’s past work and present work, Anderson’s terminally ill mother. That's just WAY too much for an under 300-page novel. I also found that military/security missions seemed beyond ridiculous and unbelievable. I was rolling my eyes at the end by the grandiosity of it. My favorite thing about this story—its cover; that gets a ten out of ten! 2/5 stars.

Love in all its forms…

I knew this book would be targeting my heart with all the feels - both joy and sorrow. I knew because I’ve read (and enjoyed) this author before. Aspen and Anderson’s story certainly did that as they both struggled with devastating loss and the pain and hurt that goes with it. Drawn together through love of another, they soon begin to look at each other differently – seeking and finding support and, dare they say, even love….

“No matter who I meet, no one will ever fill the emptiness Michael left behind.”

Grief is a horrible thing and it affects everyone so differently. Aspen’s loss is not new but letting go is something she hasn’t been able to do. Anderson is dealing with life-changing events too and is struggling to deal with life along with his worry for his mother. Their struggle was real and heart-hurting as they both were forced to let go…

“I’m scared of falling off the cliff”.

I loved this story even if it made me cry as it made me laugh through the tears. There were unexpected turns in this gentle journey that was a slice of life that anyone can relate to and empathize with. I certainly did! Another top-notch read from an author on my auto-TBR list! -Diane, 4.5 stars

This book blew. me. away. I had my eye on this book for a while now because of the cover. I love the fact that it started to tell the story just from looking at it. The story starts off as Aspen is engaged to a SEAL named Michael. They’re so in love and everything is looking forward to the future. When tragedy strikes, Aspen feels like she has to start all over. Eleven years later, Aspen is denying herself love because of her past. When she meets Anderson, her neighbor’s son, she lets her walls down to find love again. Well, she tries and through careful consideration and the pushing from her friends and family, she lets herself indulge in love for the first time since the death of her fiance.

The beginning of this book had me in tears. It wasn’t shocking that Michael’s death was happening because it was given away in the synopsis. However, Claudia Burgoa wrote the grief that Aspen was feeling so well that I feel like I really felt her pain. I felt the loss she was going through. There was nothing more that I wanted than Aspen making it through and falling in love. When Anderson came in the picture, I wanted to swoon. He was so good with her and her feelings, and yet, he also wasn’t afraid to call her out on things. When she was open and then put her walls back up, Anderson would tell her like it is. Sometimes, people need to just hear it like it is.

Aspen’s best friends were also pretty awesome as well. The characters and their developments were written well. This book flowed amazingly and I would recommend it to anyone.

The only thing that would bother some is that there are a few grammatical errors. I usually knock off a star for that because I am a massive grammar snob, but the story was so good that I had to give this book five stars. I really hope Claudia Burgoa has more books on the way!

The blurb is good. The cover is beautiful. The author is amazing. But the story… the story is breathtaking. Until I Fall will elicit feelings and emotions in a way that only some books can.

Aspen and Anderson. Just the names alone make me want to go reread their story.

Aspen is guarded, solely by choice. Yes, she’s experienced some loss in her life but she finds comfort in drab, monotony; the only excitement coming from medical emergencies that show up in her ER. I wanted to shake some sense into her a few times. Knock her upside the head (gently) and tell her to snap out of it! She still has SO much going for her and she’s not LIVING. Under it all she has a strength and a longing to live again that you are constantly rooting for it just may take a certain someone to pull her back to the surface.

Anderson is THAT guy… I don’t even know how to describe him. Yes he’s hot, yes he has a panty-melting smile and yes he has muscles that magically glisten in the sun even when he’s not sweating. He’s the ULTIMATE book boyfriend. He’s the bad boy who loves his mama… the gun toting, world saving bad ass who can kiss your pain away. See, I can’t stop myself… I could go on and on about Anderson. He’s Aspen’s little magic pill. He is exactly what she needs. Doesn’t crowd her to the point of being uncomfortable but doesn’t let her push him away. He makes her want, need, love…

I absolutely loved this book. Not only is the heart of the book a love story but it’s a realistic one, at that. There is action and a bit of covert operations stuff that’ll keep you on your toes. There’s a dog… I love when there’s a dog haha the characters are well developed and the story is well written. Even the supporting characters leave you wanting more! This was everything and more and so very well done thanks to the talented Ms. Burgoa! She hasn’t once let me down and her work just keeps getting better.

I’m a fan for life. The book and Burgoa! A solid 5-star read and definitely in my top reads of 2017.

Overall: 3 stars
Performance: 5 stars
Story: 2.5-3 stars

I really wanted to like this one, but unfortunately it was a miss for me. I just never felt fully invested in the characters or story, even though there wasn't anything in particular that I really disliked. I think there were too many subplots and characters for me to keep track of and I felt like the main story line got lost in the shuffle. The writing was good, but the book felt unfocused and unnecessarily long. The most emotional part and only time I felt really captivated by the story occurred in the heartbreaking Prologue.

The narration by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross was fantastic as usual, but this is the first time I have listened to these narrators not perform in the duet style. Other titles I have enjoyed by them usually have Kai Kennicott performing all the female parts and Wen Ross all the male. They still did an amazing job and kept me listening, but this is definitely something to keep in mind if you are looking for a duet narration.

I find myself disappointed with this book. The premise was good but I don't think it was executed very well. There were many grammatical errors and mistakes which I hate to see. The story itself was really long winded and drawn out, unnecessarily so in my opinion, this meant that I lost interest in the characters. If the characters and story can't hold my attention then it is not good enough and I wouldn't recommend it.

Favorite Quotes:

I could blame my mother and her loud voice. She’s part Greek and part Puerto Rican. Unfortunately, her entire family lacks volume control. They scream ‘how was your day, sweetie?’ The same they yell, ‘pick up your room before I turn your hide red with my belt.’

This is right, my heart agrees and my soul demands it.

Anyone can make your heart beat, not many will shake your soul,

You know why I don’t weight much? … It’s because the only part left of me is my soul. It’s light, but able to carry all the love I accumulated throughout the years. That’s all I’m taking when I leave.

My Review:

I lost my breath several times while reading this book. The storyline and writing were poignant and so very thoughtful; I was quickly swept up by the narrative and transported into Anderson and Aspen’s world. The characters were compelling, endearing, and highly relatable. I was captivated by the dichotomy of Anderson and how he was dealing with the extreme shifts in his life. His mother was fading away before him and while he was grieving and coming to terms to a future without his last remaining relative, he was still willing to open his heart for the first time, to an extremely complicated and wounded woman who was his mother’s neighbor. I adored these strong, intelligent, and appealing characters and was immediately engaged and mesmerized by their story. Written in my favorite form of dual POV, the story was well paced and artfully constructed. Ms. Burgoa has mad skills and strong word voodoo. Once I started reading I was unwilling and unable to put my kindle down for longer than was absolutely necessary. Sigh. She is apparently as addicting as cheesecake, but thankfully, not as caloric. This was only my second experience reading Ms. Burgoa’s magical words, although it was more than enough to compel me to add her entire backlist to my TBR.

Aspen Zimmerman lost the love of her life, now 11 yrs. Later she still hasn’t gotten over the grief of losing her forever partner. Graduated from medical school, she works nonstop in the ER and volunteering at a clinic to pass the time. Anything to help her mind stay off the greatest loss of her life. Having trouble sleeping one night, she steps outside to catch some fresh air, she meets her neighbor’s son.

Anderson “Hawk” Hawkins has been through a lot. Served his country and now working for a private security firm and a tattoo artist on the side. Visiting his dying mother, he steps outside late one night and meets his mother’s neighbor.

While I enjoyed this book, it was quite slow for me. At times, I struggled to stay connected to the story. Just seemed to drag on which took away from the story. While there is a good story to be told, it just didn’t hit a home run with me.

This standalone by Claudia is absolutely beautiful. Grab a few tissues or maybe a box because you're going to need them! From the moment I started reading Until I Fall, I knew my heart was going to shatter. It's full of sorrow, love, loss, and friendship, but it's also about rebuilding love and life.

Addison has suffered the loss of a loved one. Since then she has built walls around her heart. She doesn't show her emotions though. She's lives life through burying herself in work and friends.

Anderson (Hawk) doesn't do relationships. Hawk is so Alpha military he is probably my next book boyfriend. He's all about work and taking care of his mom, who he adores dearly. But when he meets Aspen, he feels some kind of pull he can't explain. Will he fight those feelings or will he pursue?

Sometimes we can't leave the past behind. It's always lingers and we have to find a way to live for the future. It's about making those memories last. I loved all the characters throughout this book. From Addison and her bestie, to Anderson and his mom and crew. There's humor that puts a smile on your face & definitely some romance. I cried though. I felt so connected to Addison's character because of her health care background. This story was truly fantastic and I highly recommend it.

This was a decent read, I have to say that the beginning of the book was predictable because of the blurb but nonetheless it was an emotional start to the book. I love the young love of Aspen and Michael and yes I cried when he was killed off, but like I said the blurb alluded to it so it wasn't a shocker nor is my mentioning it a spoiler. What did shock me was that it was eleven years from Michael's death to the present time.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.

I thought I was a strong woman until I read the prologue of this book and continued reading. The emotions are just wow. Your heart goes out to both Aspen and Anderson and the losses they had to encounter.

Aspen & Anderson will show you that a beautiful relationship can be developed from a beautiful friendship even though they have faced great losses in their lives. Aspen tried hard not to feel for Anderson but she couldn't help it.

So emotional.

Review:
I had high expectation for this book. I really looked forward to reading this one. The synopsis sounded really good and it sounded like it could be my kind of read. Sadly it disappointing me. The story didn't drag me in, I couldn't connect with the characters. For me it was the writing style that didn't work for me. It felt like I was working my way through a 500 page novel while it's only 278 pages. Nothing really happend and it felt like the story didn't come across well on paper. Some things just didn't work well and the story just didn't flow that well. I hope that makes sense.

What is this book about:
Aspen lost her fiance and since then she closed her self of from most things in her live. She is all about work, sleep, drink and repeat. She is still alive but she isn't living. That is until she met her neighbors son Anderson, he brought something back to live in her she buried long ago. She doesn't want to start feeling again, she doesn't want to let someone in only to lose them. But Anderson isn't one to easily give up.

What did I like/love:
Can't think of anything I really liked or loved. It was all quite bland for me. I really wanted to love it but the story fell flat.

What did I dislike/hate:
Sadly I didn't like the writing style. It felt like the author kept adding details later on as an after thought. And it just didn't work. The story could have been allot shorter and it didn't have that many pages to begin with. It felt like the book was like 500 pages but it wasn't. Nothing really happend. The story dragged allot. I'm sorry to say that the book didn't meet my expectations. I was expecting a different kind of story I suppose.

First of all, are there more than 5 stars? Because this book deserves it and so much more! I just, it's hard to string any words together to write a sentence, let alone a review!! Just oh my gosh!!! But here goes nothing!

Life is all about second chances. You just have to be courageous enough to take them. The question is, is Aspen strong enough to do that? The poor girl has had a hard life. She's lost her fiancé and other family members. And right now along with Brynn and Scarlett when she's in town they are taking care of Sophia, the sweetest old lady in the world who has cancer. Oh yea, I should mention Aspen and Brynn are doctors. Well then in enters Anderson, Sophia's son. And from that moment on blooms one of the most amazing journeys I've had the pleasure of reading. You see Anderson is a military man and so was her fiancé. She's afraid. Can she let her walls down and let herself fall for the most amazing and patient man ever? I hope so because this strong, fierce, and amazing woman deserves it! Along with her two best friends and her brother and of course Sophia and Anderson she walks through it all. And comes out better and so worth it.

I laughed and definitely cried while reading this. My emotions were out of control, but in the absolute best way possible. This story just blew me away and just ah! There simply aren't enough adjectives to describe this story. Life is all about the second chance, the courage to take it, the love of another and your friends, and above all the strength inside of you.... even when you don't think you have it in you. Guess what? You do!!

And on a deeper note, make sure you read the entire book, cover to cover. Sweet Claudia lets you in on a little of her life and makes the book that much more special. You'll cry reading the readers note. But trust me, it hits you just the way it should! I love this book with all my heart and I'm sad to have finished it. And I'm definitely ready to dive back in already!

You know you're going to cry. I knew I was going to. Accept it, carry tissues, and one click. It's that simple.

What isn't simple is the emotional upheaval that the author insists on inflicting on poor (un)suspecting readers! No lie I was a slobbering mess at least twice in this book. I will not cop to any other instances because my book buddies already tease me.

What I will share is the fear...I have always had the irrational but highly normal fear of losing my love. It is this terrifying fear that grips my heart and is made worse any time I read a book like Until I Fall. It plagues my nightmares and I can sympathize with Aspen. She lived or tries to live through my fear.

Fear can be healthy but it can also be a hindrance. In Aspen's case, she is hiding behind her fears and using them as a shield to avoid life. But not everyone is ok with Aspen's hiding, no, one man is determined to find the real Aspen. He's determined to unearth the real woman hiding behind fake smiles and walls. Anderson can't explain why he likes her or even wants to spend time with her. He just knows she makes him lighter in every way.

Although it would be sweet to say that she fell for his charming smile, it would be a lie. Aspen isn't giving up emotion, her walls, or her hiding without a fight. Is Anderson ready or even willing to break through her walls? Neither one is looking for anything, yet, they gravitate towards each other. But denial can go a long way especially when you feed it your fears...

I told you I cried but I didn't tell you how much I loved it. I love the stories that make you feel. The characters that give you hope and make you long for more. This book has them in spades. I have to look and see if any of my favorites star in other books by the author.

Regardless, I will be keeping an eye out for future books from Ms. Burgoa.

Wow I wasn't expecting that heartbreaking sadness in the start of this book. Based on the cover I was think comfort and easy but there's more to it than that, it's a long journey ahead. I have note I liked that cover it's not the usual. Aspen this girl needed a hug and a huge break. Anderson and Aspen's relationship is full of tears and emotions.

One thing they share is the loss of someone they love, one who has gone through it and one about to go through it. Aspen has to deal with her grief and her life choices as a result of her past. It can't be easy holding all that in. Anderson is a interesting guy who has seen a lot. His ordeal breaks my heart but that is life. They both lean on one another and hold on to find strength in this time. I admit it's complicated with all the other aspects in the story. I can understand why it can get long-winded for some. It goes through many stages that involve heavy emotions. Anderson and Aspen have challenges yet to face as their relationship progresses but they have a heartwarming story.

If you like a fast paced story this may not be for you. I can appreciate the care the author took in writing this touching story. Claudia Burgoa writes with heart and it includes the ones who love and people who touch your life. it has a somber tone throughout it comes with hope. Until I Fall is my first book by this author and she truly knows how to draw out emotions. A story of life, loss, love and family that has varying emotions in between. While I had my own tears shed that's expected with the melancholic feel, there are happier moments in between though. Heartwarming and hopeful, emotional well crafted story by a new author for me but will keep reading.
