Taylor
I’m that rich girl whose silver spoon was snatched right out of her pretty mouth.
I lost everything.
Now my everyday reality includes sleeping in my car and dining on whatever clearance bin food I can purchase with spare change.
But my issues don’t end there.
My nightmare family is hot on my heels and demanding something I don’t have.
They won’t give up until I crack.
And I’m just on the brink.
When I finally hit rock bottom I fall into the arms of an unlikely savior.
Kellan Gentry.
Brash and arrogant. Prince of the party scene. Notorious flirt.
The kind of guy who would break your heart with a shrug.
Falling for him makes no sense...
Right?

Kellan
I used to be careless.
I used to be all about chasing trouble and good times until I caught up to them.
But watching my own family go through hell changed everything.
Now I just want to stay on a steady path and make them proud.
Then along comes Taylor Briggs.
Two years ago we hooked up at a wild party and she’s hated me ever since.
She’s gorgeous and sarcastic. She’s wrapped in more secrets than I can guess.
And somehow the ground shifts underneath me.
In the clash between love and logic, there’s no mystery as to which one will win.
I’ve been warned about the complications. I’ve been warned we’ll get ripped to shreds.
I dare anyone to try.
There’s nothing I won’t do to protect this girl.
No matter what it costs me.

“Clash,” is book four in the spin-off series, “Gentry Generations.” Kellan, Chase’s (from Gentry Boys” series) middle son, is a good guy with a personality much like his dad—a witty, charming jokester!

Taylor, was once a diva with a life of the rich and charmed, and that’s how Kellan remembered her on the night they first met. Life’s circumstances, and a few years of struggle humbled her greatly by the time they met again. Kellan had a good heart, and that Gentry good ole boy honor that they all seems to posses! Taylor didn’t let her new life’s situation define her, and grew from her struggle. I really liked these two as a coupe—great chemistry and connection!

I love how Ms. Brent, breathes new life into each of her stories! No two are similar, or include redundant story lines. She keeps the integrity of the Gentry family the same, and their tight knit family as a foundation of these stories! I’m so very invested in this family, and will continue to be as long as the stories continue to be original and well written!

I predicted one of the most unfortunate parts of this story, a twist that I seen coming about mid-way, and I hate that I was right...SO much:( One of my favorites characters was Thomas, Kellan’s youngest brother. I was so happy to see that he’s getting a book in early 2020! I’m hopeful for an an epic HEA for that wonderfully sweet, great guy!

WOW.....what an emotional ride from beginning to end! Taylor was the IT girl, rich, popular and on top of the world until it all came crumbling down. Kellan was the "Party Prince", all about girls, parties, girls until only one girl occupied his mind. Taylor is trying her best to survive life and Kellan wants to be her knight and friend while trying to hide his feelings for her. Can these two overcome the obstacles in their path? Will they admit how they feel for each other? This is the fifth book in the Gentry Generations series and a MUST read because each one gets better and better and you just can't put it down!

Clash by Cora Brent is book 4 in the Gentry Generations Series. This is the story of Kellan Gentry and Taylor Briggs. I haven't yet read the previous books so for me this was a standalone book.
Taylor and Kellan had a encounter a few years back but Taylor was a totally different person then. Now she has lost everything and is pretty much living in her car and looking for cheap food along with dogging what family she has. Kellan is a playboy but he also has a strong family with strong family ties so he does have some different standing than Taylor. Kellan really has a sad story now which Kellan won't be able to walk away from.
Enjoyed their story and hope to go back soon to read the previous books.

Another great Gentry book by a Cora Brent. This family is special and this series just works for me. This book in particular I found quite enjoyable. These two made a great match and I liked seeing their development throughout the book. I also loved seeing more of Kellan’s brother Thomas in this book and I can’t wait for his story next.

It was ok. I can not understand not reporting those creeps of siblings of hers to the police.
I know the books require some sort of angst for the Gentry character, but did Thomas really deserve that?!

Waiting for Thomas

I always love a another Gentry story and Kellen didn't disappoint.
If by some chance you've passed this series , start at the beginning with Cord ( Draw ) . Make your way through the generations until your all caught up like me, waiting for another installment in this family I can't get enough of.

Tropes: second chances, new adult
Feels: 2/5
Steam*: 1.5/5
Kinks: bit of dirty talk
Angst: medium
HEA: yes
Pairing: MF
Triggers/potential icks/content warnings: suicide of parent, attempted sexual assault of a minor, violence, threats of sexual assault, homelessness, reference to minor character drunk driving and killing someone

This book is about Taylor and Keelan. They are both around 21 years old. 2 years ago they had a one night stand. Shortly after that, Taylor's rich girl life fell to pieces and her father who was being investigated for financial crimes committed suicide. Taylor's siblings seem to think that their father left his money to Taylor and she's hiding it. But she's not. She's been homeless for months, she's very much destitute. Her greedy siblings have been threatening her, particularly via Peter her brother-in-law and Paul his brother.

Taylor and Kellan run into each other at a restaurant, and when Taylor passes out Keelan comes to her rescue. Taylor confesses what's going on in her life, which is kind of unrealistic over sharing to be honest, and Keelan decides to be a gentleman and help her out. They spend a lot of time together when she stays at his place using his couch platonically, and eventually they end up dating. But Taylor isn't going to quietly get happiness with her greedy family in the background threatening harm.

I didn't like this book for a lot of reasons. It started off on a bad note because in the first few pages, the author so casually dropped that one of the side characters David is an alcoholic and had driven drunk and killed someone a year ago or so, and that strings have been pulled and he only had 5 months in jail. And how David was now in love with his girlfriend and we should all sympathize with him being on the road to recovery. And I'm sorry but I can't just get over the injustice and horror of that in a paragraph and move on. I know David is Keelan's brother but I abhor drunk driving. I almost dnf'd the book over the author's treatment of drunk driving.

I just overall didn't think this book was told very well. It started off with Taylor immediately confessing to Keelan that she was homeless, taking away any tension or secrecy. It instantly put them into this pitying relationship and it wasn't that she hates me dynamic that we were supposed to get. And there was no chemistry or moments building up romantic or sexual tension until they hooked up halfway through the book. There was no sensuality, especially not on Taylor's side, and then all of a sudden she's saying they have magnetic physical attraction? We neither saw nor heard it until she vocalized that. I am not opposed to slow burn, but you need to show me some of that simmer.

And also this author has a bad habit of dropping a particular plot point or fact that the reader doesn't know. Making the reader kind of scratch their head and think it was a typo for a minute and that the thing isn't true. And then in the following paragraphs explaining that yes that is a truth and the situation changed and we're just learning about it. It's just a stilted way to tell a story. It doesn't add any value or tension, it just makes the reader question the author over and over again. When I come across one of those moments it feels like I jam on the brakes and try to make sense of how we got there, only to keep reading and find out oh yeah we got there.

The book got a bit better and more realistic once they were officially dating. But the book just didn't endear itself to me for a bunch of reasons.

I'm going to list a bunch of my thoughts that I had while reading this book and what page or percentage they were at. So you can see what was going through my head.

- 32% - I'm disappointed this book is about a MMC who is in college and in his f-boy stage. I don't think new adult romance is for me unless the characters are more mature than this guy is. I can't take him seriously. He's not book boyfriend material. I'm not terribly impressed with him grinding against some other girl at the 32% mark. It's a little far into the book for him to be still considering other girls. The relationship between Taylor and Keelan should get more development.

- 43% - they are talking about her dead family and Keelan is getting a boner. And this isn't even meant to be like an unhinged moment or an unhinged character where they are self aware of how inappropriate it is. It's just juvenile of Keelan. (Btw, I love deliberate unhinged behavior. Case in point, Cora Rose has a bunch of books that feature that and I cheer and laugh when it's deliberate)

- 47% - Taylor's been pretty cool and in control of herself, not really having sexual thoughts and not seriously giving thought to Keelan with everything going on in her life. Yet in her thoughts here she all of a sudden just randomly drops that there's a magnetic attraction between them? It's not believable

- 58% - This is so dumb. They just had a dramatic moment with some sexual tension, though badly written sexual tension. And the serious question she insists that she has to ask is are you okay if I wear heels to a wedding? so dumb

- 66% - when they are having their first hook up 2 years after their one night stand, he's thinking of her as a goddess. I know he's interacted a bit more with her at this point. So he knows her a little bit better. But it seems a little pathetic / shoddy book boyfriend of him that he thinks she's a goddess now, but when they hooked up two years ago she was nothing to him. Just makes their connection feel like less, and it makes him at the bottom of my list of book boyfriends.

- 95% - I can't really believe that they had sex right after the night that they had had. With Keelan's brother in the hospital, the multiple threats of gun violence. The guilt they are both feeling and all the other negative emotions. This isn't really a dark romance where that would fit, and it wasn't really a celebration of life and relief kind of moment. It was just an everyday horniness moment, and it just didn't fit.

Some notable moments:

Relatable! "“Do you run?” he asked. “Sure, if something terrifying is chasing me.”"

Ha, Paige's reaction "“Paige,” he said before dropping down to one knee. “You make me happier than I ever thought I could be. I would be honored to spend every day for the rest of my life trying to be the man you deserve. I love you.” Derek fumbled with his pocket and withdrew the ring box. He pried it open. “Will you marry-“ “YES!” screamed Paige and threw her arms around his neck. “YESYESYESYES! I WILL MARRY YOU, DEREK! YES!” “I think she might have said yes,” Kellan announced to everyone in a stage whisper"

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

This was an amazing read that I had finished quickly! I have been waiting for Kellan's story and I was not disappointed in the least. Kellan and Taylor had a slow burn relationship that was kind of second chance after their one night hook up as well as a friends to lovers feel since when they reunited they did so as friends. I felt that both characters were well written for the circumstances that they found themselves in throughout this book as Taylor starts out homeless and has issues with her pride when it comes to accepting help from others and Kellan has a strong desire to help and protect her but learns that he needs to step back and wait for her to ask for the help that she needs. The banter between the pair was quite enjoyable and the tension between them was palpable at times. Their story felt like it just flew by and now I can't wait to have Thomas's story. If you are a fan of the Gentry series as well as the Generations spin off series then this book will not disappoint you in the least.

Taylor grew up living the lavish life until her father broke the law. I really liked Kellan until Aimee came along. I wonder what would have happened if her ex hadn't shone up. I'm Taylor was able to overcome her family drama. I'm hoping Thomas still has a chance at a baseball future.

I haven't read any of the other 'Gentry' books, so maybe that's why I didn't get hooked in this one. It was OK, but at 47% I've just lost interest.

Suspenseful but steamy

This book had a different type of storyline than what I'm used to. Taylor and Kellan had hooked up once when they were both in college. It's now a few years later when they see each other again under very tragic circumstances. Taylor is embarrassed to have Kellan see her the way she is now. Kellan can't get Taylor out of his head so when she shows up after hitting rock bottom, he can't turn her away. They grow closer together but Kellan doesn't feel right wanting to start something up with her. He doesn't want her to feel like he is trying to take advantage of her situation. Taylor feels like he doesn't want her because of her situation. Meanwhile, her past comes back with a vengeance and innocent people get hurt. I liked how their relationship developed without having to jump into bed right away. It allows the chemistry between them to slowly build until they come to a turning point.

Clash Ups the Game

Clash takes the Gentry Generations series to a whole new level. Kellan and Taylor's story was fresh and unpredictable in the best of ways. Kellan Gentry has a personality to match his father's that made me smile. Taylor's struggles moved me to sadness while subtly raising awareness of things we humans so often choose to ignore. Rounding out this book, the well developed and beloved characters, that make up the Gentry clan, gave me the warm sense of family that has been the heart and bones of this series since the start. I cannot wait for Thomas's upcoming story and the brilliant story telling Cora Brent no doubt has in store for readers. 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Have you read any of the Gentry books? Are you a die hard fan like I am? Ugh if not I HIGHLY recommend you check them all out. Do you need to read them to follow this story? Nope, not at all. It holds it own with its beautiful telling. OMG I will admit, I have been struggling the last two days, trying to articulate all that I love about this book. So here goes...

Kellan is part of the wonderful Gentry clan. Thinking about him makes my heart happy. He truly is one of the good guys. How he reconnects with our heroine is so touching. They had met and hooked up in college a couple years before. I know, juicy right?!

Taylor, HOLY HECK, that girl has had some difficult days. Life has not been kind to her recently. My heart breaks for her. To the world, she has really fallen from grace. She went from entitled, wealthy to homeless, starving girl in a couple of years.

Taylor has this indomitable spirit but mixed in with some self deprecation. Read the story and you will understand why. Wink! Kellan has some white knight tendencies that help Taylor find her was again. She reminds me of a butterfly coming out of its cocoon. Sigh.

Okay, so I have told you some of the emotional stuff but I need to say there is some funny in this book as well. These two characters are both quick witted and have no problem thinking or saying some of the FUNNIEST one liners. SO GOOD! Plan to laugh... A LOT!

Kellan and Taylor know how to spice up the page. They are sexy and have the right amount of steam to REALLY elevate this story. Drool. Don’t think that is all though because this book has some intrigue that blew my mind. I won’t say anymore except this is a full experience read. It is five star worthy and more. Happy Reading Everyone!

Holy moly. I haven’t read a book that genuinely made my heart race in years. Not even kidding, my watch counted it as exercise. We get to catch up with the Gentry brothers (lots more of Chase, which is great because he’s my favorite) and Deck, and the Gentry generations from the previous books.

This book focuses on Kellan (Stephanie and Chase’s middle son) and Taylor. Taylor was a spoiled rich girl who’s life was reversed in a split second, while Kellan had the privilege of growing up as a Gentry out of Emblem. Kellan’s relationship with his brothers is very reminiscent of that of his father’s and his uncles, and it was amazing to see that be brought back a little bit. The gaming dynamics were amazing on both Taylor and Kellan’s parts, although for astoundingly different reasons. This was a great new installment in the Gentry series, and it is definitely my favorite of the next generation so far.

The Gentry boys continue to be some of the greatest book boyfriends ever written. We've come a long way from the triplets, but this gene pool holds STRONG.

Kellan is a genuine nice guy. Good person, handsome and smart. How could you not fall in love with him? Any of them for that matter. Taylor has been handed a crap sandwich by life and is having a TOUGH time. Her family is garbage, she's homeless and just struggling. Their one-time hookup past leaves the door open for a friendship she desperately needs now that they are both very different people.

I loved this story, even the painful parts. It's always nice for a Gentry to find his fated mate and to witness the dance that has to happen for both parties to come to terms with it. This family, these men, are just so entertaining and swoony! Gentry fan for life!

Clash is a book from the Gentry Generations series by Cora Brent. It's a stand alone, but if you are new to her, check out the other books in the series. Good reading plus characters appear across the books. The author puts us through a wide variety of emotions with this couple. Taylor and Kellan met years ago, but her life has changed dramatically since then. While life hasn't been good to her, it's actually made her a better person. When Kellan and Taylor come back into each others life, it's under different entirely different circumstances than before. They reconnect as friends at first , but both Kellan and Taylor struggle with their feelings. As they explore a new relationship, external forces make things difficult and cause heartbreak for a family member.

Taylor Briggs is just trying to make it day by day. After losing everything that’s all she can do now. Kellan Gentry is one of Chase and Stephanie Gentry’s sons and a heartbreaker at that. They might of met at a party two years ago but Taylor is not the same girl from that night. She has many secrets...he wants to figure those secrets out. Can these two find a way to help each other? This was another fabulous addition to the Gentry Clan and a very enjoyable book. I’m crushing hard on Kellan!! A perfect mix of sweet and sexy; Told in dual POV

MANWHORE hero
Hero not celibate during separation.....far from it.
Descriptive intimate scene with ow. They were humping each other, feeling on each other, and making out. He was going to go through with the whole dead, but the ow stopped it. If she hadn't he would have done it.

This is where I stopped. He probably had other intimate scenes with other women...who knows?

We also experience (hear) hero's younger brother going at it with a one night stand. So if he is the next book, you now what to expect.

Gah!! I Love The Gentrys.

If there's one thing guaranteed to put a smile on my face it's catching up with the Gentry World. I always become absorbed in each story, they're books that strengthen my love for reading.

I love this crazy bunch with a passion, they're not perfect by any means but thats what makes them special, for me..they're real and it's why I adore them.

Clash is a story in the Gentry Generations series, a spin off from the original and every bit as addictive. I highly recommend both series.

Kellan and Taylor have history a brief hook up two years ago that neither can forget. Now their paths clash once again just as Taylor really needs a friend.

I absolutely love Taylor she's strong and independent with a sarcastic witty side that made me laugh. She's had a tough time but she's a fighter.

What can I say about Kellan? He's a typical lads lad he's had his wild side in the past but he's a good guy. As with all the Gentrys family is important and Kellan will do anything for them.

The connection between Taylor and Kellan is powerful they have that history that neither can deny, it only adds to the tension and sexual chemistry building between them.

I loved all the back and forth it was fun seeing Kellan trying to do the right thing whilst lusting after Taylor.
The witty banter between them was hilarious they just get each others sarcasm.

A fantastic story from beginning to end, I felt every emotional moment whist reading Kellan and Taylor's journey.

Here's to the next instalment in the Gentry World, I can't wait. 💗

Couple things...

This was a little slow moving as far, as developing a relationship between the two protagonists, and I was NOT happy when I realized, around the 47% mark, .

Most of the time, I loved Kellan, but three quarters of the way in, I also found myself annoyed with him. He knew how his repeated rejection of Taylor was being perceived by her, but he did very little to explain his reasoning to her. He choose to let her be hurt instead. I seriously just wanted her to walk out the door and let him think he had rejected her one time too many. See how he appreciated being played with.

Overall, I liked this book. It just wasn't my favorite of this series.

Clash is book four in the spin-off series of Gentry Generations and is the story of Kellan Gentry and Taylor Briggs.

Taylor Briggs was a popular girl with money and a silver spoon back in the day. However her life has taken a turn for the worse and she is now finding out how tough life can really be.

Kellan Gentry is a party boy as well as a huge flirt. He wants something different in his life, a new direction perhaps.

Both of their lives change when Taylor literally falls into Kellan’s arms. I enjoyed the way Kellan and Taylor’s relationship progressed and that they are both willing to fight for one another.

This story was one heck of a roller coaster, but sadly – I didn’t think the story was that great until I was at 50% of the book. Don’t get me wrong, we readers do need some background and setting of the story, but damn that was a long 50% in. I’m glad I powered through this story as I love the Gentry’s and really was hoping for a HEA.

Thomas…..well my heart just hearts for him.
