Throughout the week, the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal will announce our 25th annual Best Places to Work honorees, starting today with companies in our extra small category.

Whether you're in the office or not, your work environment matters — particularly as the competition for job candidates remains high. The more you know about how engaged your current employees are, the better able you'll be to retain them and recruit other top talent. Gleaning some best practices from some award-winning workplaces also can help.

With that in mind, the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal is announcing throughout the week our 2023 Best Places to Work honorees. This year marks our 25th annual BPTW awards — the Twin Cities longest-running program recognizing engaging workplaces.

We, along with our research partner, Omaha, Neb.-based Quantum Workplace, have identified 70 companies in the region that scored top marks from their employees when asked to rate their employers on a variety of questions related to management, communication and more.

Today, we reveal the 20 honorees in our extra small category, representing companies with 10 to 24 Minnesota employees. The honorees are listed alphabetically below, but will be ranked by their score in our Aug. 18 Best Places to Work special publication, which will feature more about them and what makes them an award-winning workplace.

Honorees in our extra small category are:

  • Abbey Street
  • Ambrion
  • Authentic Brand
  • Beehive Strategic Communication
  • BroadReach Communications
  • Celarity
  • Clovr Life Spa Apple Valley
  • Forte Real Estate Partners
  • Fuzzy Duck
  • Grove Bank
  • Harbinger Partners
  • Homeowners Financial Group
  • ILM Professional Services
  • IN Food Marketing & Design
  • Refine Wealth Strategies
  • Safe Harbor Estate Law
  • Sovran
  • StrategicSource
  • SuperClean Brands
  • Supreme Lending

Throughout the rest of the week, we'll be announcing 15 honorees in the small category (25 to 49 Minnesota employees), 15 in the medium category (50 to 99), 15 in the large category (100 to 499), and five in the extra large category (500-plus).

All companies participating in our Best Places to Work program – even those not selected as honorees – receive an overview report from Quantum, showing how they scored on the confidential employee survey. This is valuable data participating companies can track year-over-year.
