Peace on Earth #61 and NBUS #61

Hey there!  Thanks for dropping by.

This will be a quick post because the deadline for posting to Peace on Earth is nearing fast.  I was inspired by the photo with the poinsettia.

I love Honey Bee's Lovely Layers and this poinsettia is one I got at the end of the year.  It's cut from red, inked for shading with Fired Brick (doesn't show much) and edged with Foundry Wax.  I thought it would look nice on a background I made a while ago using Altenew's Luxurious Motifs inked with Honey Bee's gold.

Both the embossing folder and the poinsettia are new so I'm also sending my card to Darnell's NBUS gallery.

Just Us Girls #723 - Mood Board Week

Vicki has a lovely mood board for us this week at Just Us Girls.

I couldn't resist that beautiful sunflower, especially since I had recently purchased one from Altenew.

It comes with a stencil that was used with Altenew Pastel Sunrise, Canyon Clay, Frayed Leaf and Forest Glades ink.  The sentiment is from EbyE.

I made a different card first using the second layer of the stencil.  I don't often like the way the second layer looks and choose to shade the flowers myself like the one above.

This sunflower was die cut, added to some DSP from Honey Bee and run through their burlap embossing folder.  This sentiment is part of the Dancing Sunflowers set.  Totally different look.

What peeks your interest in that mood board?  What do you think the Design Team and our guest Colleen were inspired by?  Head on over to Just Us Girls, check them out and see a larger version of the mood board.

This is the first outing of the Dancing Sunflowers so I'm sending my card to NBUS #61.

The Flower Challenge #90 - Reminder

Hey there.  Thanks for dropping by.

There is still time for you to make a layered card for The Flower Challenge.

For my card I used the two layer plaid cover plate from Concord and 9th.

It was cut in white and mounted on a dark gray card base.  The flower are from Altenew's Golden Days, stamped in pinks and greens.

There is more inspiration for you from the Design Team over on the blog.  Be sure to check them out.

Freshly Made Sketches #631

Hey there!  I'm so glad you dropped by.

The sketch at Freshly Made Sketches was just begging for a large flower and I had just the one.

Majestic Bloom from Altenew.  I didn't use the outline, just stamped the layers in the darkest three of the Enchanted Garden set.  Lime is a good compliment to purple so the leaves are from the Spring Bouquet, all from Altenew.  The background is the Double Striped Card Front die from C9.  The sentiment from Sunny Studio is in the darkest purple, and not as crooked as it appears in the photo.  😞

Double D - Cute Animals

Hey there!  I'm glad you dropped by.

I don't have a lot of animal stamps but I do think the ones I have are cute.  Especially those from Gerda Steiner.  I mean how cute are these turtles?!  They're for the Double D challenge.

They're stamped on Bristol and colored with Zigs.  Remember when we had those wood handled, long bristled brushes to color our backgrounds?  I still have mine from Clarity Stamps and used one for the soft blue sky on a panel cut with The Greetery's Crimped Rectangle.   The Distress Ink grass is an unbranded die and the sentiment is from Darkroom Door.

I'm slipping under the wire to get this posted so I'm off to Double D.
