Thank you for your interest in a field trip to Baltimore City Public Schools' Great Kids Farm (GKF) in school year 2023/2024! More details are below. With any questions, please email farms@bcps.k12.md.us. Check out our full menu of Farm to School offerings at www.baltimorecityschools.org/farm-school
  • WHO IS ELIGIBLE: Baltimore City Public Schools - full grades K-5. NOTE: Each school will be limited to 1 GKF field trip per school-year, so please do your best to coordinate with other teachers at your school to avoid conflict.
  • GROUP SIZE: GKF trips are designed to be full-grade experiences, NOT used as incentives/rewards for small groups. In general, trips are limited to 72 students. For most schools, this means 1 full grade, but for some, 2 full consecutive grades can come. If a single grade at your school exceeds 72 students, please list full size below and we will do our best to accommodate you.
  • TRANSPORTATION: Unless a school chooses to pay for its own bus(es), GKF will most likely be able to arrange and pay for bus(es) thanks to the support of our non-profit partner, Friends of Great Kids Farm. GKF is located at 6601 Baltimore National Pike, Catonsville, MD, 21228.
  • TIMING: Trips begin on the farm at 9:45am and end at 12:30pm. Trips include learning journey led by the GKF team, plus recess and lunch at the end of the day. (For schools with late start times, we may be able to adjust schedule slightly.)
  • CHAPERONES: Per district policy, field trips require 1 chaperone per 5 students in K-2nd grade groups, and 1 chaperone per 8 students in 3rd-5th grade groups. NOTE: 1-on-1 chaperones assigned to students with special needs do not count toward your chaperone total. We will ask you to list chaperones on roster.
