Peace Week Youth Art Contest

Arkansas Peace Week Art contest is open to Arkansas students, 1st – 12th grade. Last year we had over 2,000 submissions from all over the state.

Art should address the following theme:

  • What does peace mean to you? Depict a more peaceful community in your art entry.

Schools, teachers, faith groups and other youth organizations are encouraged to sponsor and guide students with their submissions. • We encourage schools to conduct their own local contest during Arkansas Peace Week, September 15 – 22. Local contest winner’s entries can be submitted into our state wide competition. Arkansas Arts Council: The Arts in Education (AIE) program provides access to a roster of Teaching Artist that can assist schools with developing these programs.

Awards will be presented for 12 age groups: 1st grade through 12th grade:

1st Place winners in each grade will receive $50
2nd Place winners in each grade will receive $25
3rd Place winners in each grade will receive $15

Entries including a scan or photograph of each piece must be submitted in this form by September 27, 2024. Art must be two dimensional 8.5″x11″ paper, cardboard or stock.  For complete rules and to register for the contest please see our Online Registration Form.

Finalists will be announced in mid-October. Eight art entries per grade will be selected as finalists and displayed at the Arkansas State Capitol November 10 -16, 2024. Award winners will be announced in a ceremony at the Arkansas State Capitol on November 16, 2024.
