Altenew June Marvelous Monthly Series Release Blog Hop

This is a first! A truly marvelous first.

Each month Altenew has five amazing subscription sets. This month, Altenew is releasing all five subscriptions at once! If you are hopping along with us, you have just come from Reiko Tsuchida. Your next stop is Tenia Nelson. For more information, check out the Altenew Card Blog.

How many different ways can you color an image? For this month’s release I used 5 different methods of coloring images. Let me know your favorite way to color in images.

Build a Garden: Nature’s Garden

Adding color with Woodless Coloring Pencils

Build a Garden: Nature’s Garden has beautiful floral sprigs and uplifting sentiments.

For this card, I used the Woodless Coloring pencils to color in the images after I stamped them in Vanilla Cream. The sentiment is stamped in obsidian ink.

After finishing coloring the florals, I decided to color the background in a soft blue. Coloring the background helps the flower images stand out.

Craft a Flower: Cape Marguerite

Adding color with inking die cuts

The Cape Marguerite Craft a Flower has two beautiful daisies. The layered die cut petals provide so much detail and texture and are easy to put together. For this card, I wanted to make white flowers with a monochromatic feel so I paired the white flowers with purple leaves and a gray background.

The background is the Altenew Dotted Swirls Debossing folder. Since there is so much texture in the flowers, I wanted to continue a bit of that texture to the card base.

To achieve a white flower look, I die cut the flower petals from white paper and then inked up the petals with Limestone ink. The leaves were inked up with Ultraviolet ink from the Enchanted Garden Ink Set.

The sentiment letters were die cut from gold foil paper using the Tall Alpha lowercase letters.

Project kit: Silk Art

Adding color with embossing ink

The Silk Art Project kit stamps are beautiful. For this project, I used Razzleberry embossing powder to color the flowers, platinum for the leaves and Rose gold for the sentiment.

To add a sense of movement, I used the Feathery Leaves stencil with Marshland ink from Nature’s Wonders Ink Set.

The Silk Art Project Kit comes with an embossing folder and a coloring stencil. After embossing the image, I used Caribbean Sky embossing powder to color the first layer of flower petals.

For the rest of the image, I ink blended using the stencil. I then cut out the entire image and added it to a card front which had been ink splattered with Sea Glass Ink spray. The sentiment is stamped in Obsidian Ink.

Mini Delight: Hooray!

Adding color with stamping

Hip Hip Hooray! This mini delight set is a celebration. For this card I used repeat stamping of bright colors to set the background: wisteria, pink diamond, sunkissed, citrus burst, firefly, sea glass.

The blue hip: Ocean Waves and Desert Night. The green hip: Firefly and Shadow Creek. The hooray: Orange Cream.

To highlight the sentiment, I used the hexagon stamp from GeoFrames which I stamped in Pure Graphite ink.

Paint a flower: Flowering dogwood

Adding color with Woodless watercoloring pencils

I love dogwood flowers – they really are my favorite. The Flowering Dogwood was an easy one to paint with the Altenew Woodless Watercoloring Pencils.

The Woodless Watercoloring pencils are a great way to color on the go. I lay down some color with the pencils and then use the Altenew waterbrush to blend the color. With these pencils, I can control the amount of pigment.

I finished the card with some splatter with Antique Silver ink spray. The sentiment is stamped in obsidian ink.
