Altenew Build a Garden: MAGNIFICENT Branch Blog hop

This is a first. Yes, this is the first ever Build a Garden release by Altenew. What is the Build a Garden? Build a Garden releases contain a beautiful floral image and coordinating coloring stencil so you can easily create realistic flowers on your projects. If you are hopping along with us today you have just come from Maryám Pérez and your next stop is Mindy Eggen. For more inspiration and to check out the full hop list, please head to the Altenew Card Blog. There is a ton of inspiration in the hop and I would love to know what you think about the newest member of the Altenew family: Magnificent Branch.

Build a Garden: Magnificent Branch

The Magnificent Branch stamp really is magnificent. This is a large image that can easily cover the entire card front. When I saw the floral image at first, I knew I wanted to play with floral placement on my card front. By cutting the image and putting it at the top of the card, there is a sense of movement and focus drawn towards the sentiment on the bottom.

I wanted the floral to feel light so I stamped it out with embossing ink and used Golden Peach embossing powder for the stamp’s outline. I then used the coordinating coloring stencil to color my image. Since this is an outline image, it could be colored with a variety of media.

To color in the floral I ink blended using the coordinating coloring stencil. I was looking for a light peach/orange. Here are the colors I used for the flowers:

I then fussy cut out the image, cut it in half and placed it on the top of the card front. To add some texture, I used the 3D embossing folder: Fringe. For the sentiment, I stamped and embossed in Golden Peach one of the beautiful sentiments from the stamp set. The sentiment is on vellum to add to the light and airy feel of the card. I have been using navy card bases lately because I like the dark contrast against light florals.

The Build a Garden series contains a floral stamp and coordinating coloring stencil. The Build a Garden is available as a subscription. 1. Thanks Donna. I love adding a vellum sentiment when there is a busy background.

  1. Your card is very pretty Amy. The embossed background and vellum overlay makes the pretty florals stand out even more! Thanks for the inspiration!

  2. Definitely achieved your light feel to this card, very pretty and I like the use of the embossing powder.

    1. Thanks Sandi Ann. I’ve been branching out with my embossing powders lately.

  4. It caught my eyes using the softer colors – but love the vellum for the sentiment – seeing vellum more on cards. Thanks 4 yr creative talents!
