Fragile Earth

Applying data science for a sustainable planet.

Fragile Earth is an annual gathering that brings together research, industry, and policy community around enhancing scientific discovery in the earth sciences through the joint use of data, theory, and computation.

Since 2016 the AI for Good Foundation has organised the Fragile Earth community and associated events, bringing together researchers, subject matter experts, governments, and policy groups under one roof to learn and discuss how Artificial Intelligence can help address problems with the Earth’s Biome and threats to its stability.

We’re partnering with a variety of organisations in order to develop workshops, datasets, community engagement, and research that can have a direct impact on these themes.

Fragile Earth 2023

Accelerating progress towards equitable sustainability

Fragile Earth 2023, our annual workshop is taking place as part of the Earth Day events at ACM’s KDD 2023 Conference.

The Fragile Earth Workshop was one of three workshops associated with the planned Earth Day event at KDD 2019 (organized by our OC members, Shashi Shekhar and James Hodson), provided keynotes and panels for Earth Day in 2020, and has been a recurring workshop at the annual KDD conference for the past seven years. We hope to continue this tradition in 2023.
