On August 29, as Pearl River waters rose, the largest water treatment plant for the city of Jackson, Mississippi, failed – leaving 160,000 residents without clean, safe drinking water. This crisis affects the residents, along with hospitals, fire stations, and schools, without safe drinking water posing an immediate health threat. In many cases, these communities had no reliable water service, to begin with, and this crisis only exacerbated these conditions. Unfortunately, Jacksonians have become accustomed to spending a small fortune on bottled water every month, but they now require next-level assistance.
