NBA 2K League Increases Prize Pool to $1.5 Million for 2021 Season

The NBA 2K League will award $1.5 million in prize money throughout the 2021 season, with the largest prize pool reserved for the 2021 NBA 2K League champions.

There are opportunities for teams to win prize money throughout the season, including two in-season tournaments and the 2021 NBA 2K League Playoffs Delivered by DoorDash. THE TIPOFF powered by AT&T (May 19-22) will have a prize pool of $160,000, and THE TURN powered by AT&T (July 14-17) a prize pool of $260,000.

The 2021 Playoffs will feature a total prize pool of more than $1 million, with the NBA 2K League champions receiving $450,000 from that pool. The remaining $630,000 will be distributed among the teams that qualify for the 2021 Playoffs (second place – $180,000, third and fourth place – $80,000, fifth through eighth place – $42,500, ninth through twelfth place – $30,000).

The 2021 Playoffs tip off Thursday, August 26 and conclude Saturday, September 4 with the 2021 NBA 2K League Finals Delivered by DoorDash.

Player Salaries

All NBA 2K League players who competed in the 2020 season and were retained by teams priorto the 2021 NBA 2K League Draft will earn a base salary of $38,000. First-round selections in the 2021 Draft will earn a base salary of $35,000. Players who were selected in the second round or later will earn a base salary of $33,000.

All contracts are six-month agreements, and players can sign endorsement deals to earn income in addition to their NBA 2K League compensation package, subject to league guidelines.

Housing and Benefits

In addition to base salary, players will receive paid housing in their team market for the entire season, and relocation expenses will be included in compensation packages. Additional benefits include medical insurance and a retirement plan
