Edgar H. Parkman Newsletter
April 28, 2020
Hello Parkman Families!
We hope that you have been able to put your family first throughout this time. With just the flip of a switch, we all have experienced many personal and work related changes. It's important that as we manage each obstacle that comes our way, we always remember that this is temporary. In the meantime, we can help support each other to get through this by being positive and understanding. Parkman staff understand that the transition to full online learning will bring some obstacles. If families have questions regarding the distance learning plan, please continue to reach out to us. We want to support you as best we can.
Be well!
-Principal Roman

The Secret Lake
Join Principal Roman in a live weekly read aloud. We apologize for the inconvenience, but due to technical difficulties, these specific read alouds can not be recorded.
Description:
"When Stella and her younger brother, Tom, move to their new London home, they become mystified by the disappearances of Harry, their elderly neighbor's small dog. Where does he go? And why does he keep reappearing wet-through?
Their quest to solve the riddle over the summer holidays leads to a boat buried under a grassy mound, and a tunnel that takes them to a secret lake.
Who is the boy rowing towards them who looks so terrified? And whose are those children’s voices carried on the wind from beyond the woods?
Stella and Tom soon discover that they have traveled back in time to their home and its gardens almost 100 years earlier. Here they make both friends and enemies, and uncover startling connections between the past and present." (Amazon.com)
Curriculum & Instruction
EPS will be going fully online beginning May 5th.
Starting May 5th, Teachers will be delivering prerecorded instruction and follow up assignments through Microsoft Teams. Teachers will also meet with students live for classroom meetings and check-ins. It is important that your child be able to access Teams before May 5th. Assignments will be posted to help your child acclimate to the different features of the Teams platform.
If you are unable to get into Teams, please visit the Enfield Public Schools website to troubleshoot: http://www.enfieldschools.org/
We will be working with families this week to ensure that every family has at least one device for children to use. We do not have enough devices for all students, but we do want to make sure that each family has at least one device.
During this unsettled time, it is extremely important that we have a way to communicate with you electronically as well as by phone. I am asking for your help so that we can provide your child with the best distance learning experience as possible, under the circumstances. If you have not been in communication with your child’s teacher, please send him/her a message through email so that you can stay informed about daily learning opportunities. If you do not have email, please call and leave me a voicemail (860-944-1197) with your most updated phone number.
