SEMPY promotes the study and discussion of the works of European philosophers of the 17th and 18th centuries. Relevant works include, but are not limited to, those of Descartes, Malebranche, Spinoza, Conway, Leibniz, Locke, Berkeley, Hume, Reid, Kant, and Shepherd. Papers are made available for participants to read beforehand whenever possible; our sessions usually begin with a brief summary of the author’s work followed by open discussion.
