SUBMIT YOUR WORK

Submitting an Article

When you submit an article to the Tulane Journal of Policy and Political Economy, you're submitting to an internationally recognized undergraduate publication. Accepted papers will be published in the Journal's next edition, which will be circulated through an international network of universities, indexed on premier research databases (such as Google Scholar), and printed. Here's the submission and review process:

Submission & Review Process
We are currently accepting submissions for our Fall 2024 issue. The deadline for submission is October 31st at 11:59pm.

  1. Upon submitting the Article Submission Form (linked below), your submission will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

  2. Once your final article is submitted, it will go through a three-stage review process:

    1. Our Editorial Review Board will conduct an initial review.

    2. Articles that pass the initial review will progress onto a Faculty Review Panel.

    3. Articles that progress past the Faculty Review Panel will be reviewed by the Journal's Executive Board, which will then select the finalists.

  3. The final release will be comprised of 10-15 articles, reformatted and prepared for publications.

Article Submission Guidelines

When writing your paper, consider whether or not you include all of the following: abstract, introduction, methods, results, and discussion. Ideal submissions will have a clear research design and bridge gaps in knowledge from pre-existing literature. For a better understanding of what type of research we are looking for, please take a look at previous editions of the Journal.

Requirements

  • Papers must be an original investigation of a subject relating to policy and political economy (politics, law, political philosophy, international relations, economics, etc.).

  • Papers should not surpass 10,000 words.

  • Please remove all mentions of your name, school, and/or class from your work before submitting.

  • You must use Chicago-style footnote citations in lieu of in-text citations.

  • Submissions must be in Word format (.docx)

  • Papers written for a class, independent study, or honors thesis can be submitted as well as those written entirely independently; however, no papers that have already been published should be submitted.

Submission Guidelines

Recommendations

  • Ideal papers will be around 6,000 words in length.

  • Any papers consisting of an original investigation into a subject will be reviewed, but those that consist of original academic (primary) research will be given preference.

  • Papers should include a well thought out research design and have a clear explanation of the link between findings and previous literature.

Additional notes

All papers will be run through a program that checks for plagiarism. Any articles found to be plagiarized will not be accepted, and if deemed necessary, will be reported to the officials of the author's respective university.
