Re-motoring
My policy is, that all re-motoring kits shown on this website are available at
any time, I do stock all components * to make the re-motoring units to order.
* some special gearheadmotors require a minimum order of 50 from me at the
plant so that I order only once or twice a year.

Miniatures re-motoring pictures:
As you could see in the following sample pictures, the conversions are “drop in conversions” which do not require:
- change of axle or idler gears and therefore quartering of wheels
- extensive changes on chassis and superstructures
(some minor filing and grinding may occur due to the tolerances of handmade
brass engines)
- no specific tools like lathe, drill press or mill
Recommended tools are:
- assortment of small screwdrivers (normal, hex)
- soldering iron
- NWSL or similar puller for worms with 1.5 and 2mm inserts
- reamer 1.5 and 2 mm
- ACC and epoxy glue
- thin styrene shims 0.5 and 1mm. to insulate motor form frame.
All drives* result in smooth and silent running engines which are essential for DCC, sound and long term operations.
* On some dives with gear head motors a whining sound may occur in the beginning until the gears are broken in.
