Denise Nell Counsellor Nelson NZ
Denise provides counselling for both couples and adult individuals in Stoke, Nelson, and works with a broad range of issues from relationships, depression and anxiety to stress management, trauma, and grief, offering a confidential, affordable, easy to talk to, and compassionate service.
Kia ora and hello, my name is Denise.  I'm a trained and qualified counsellor providing counselling for both couples and individual adults, covering a broad range of issues from relationship problems, anxiety and depression, trauma and grief, to workplace coaching and self-esteem, and more.

I have a down-to-earth and practical approach to helping clients reach their goals.  This might involve just a few sessions where we make sense of challenges and identify effective coping strategies, or a longer-term approach where we work toward resolving and healing more deeply rooted difficulties and distress.

I have a Bachelor of Counselling, ten years counselling experience, and am a member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors which has both a robust code of ethics and complaints process.

To best meet client needs, I draw on a range of counselling approaches, including, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Person Centred Counselling, and Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy.

Nelson has always been home, and is where my husband and I have raised our three early-twenties adult children.  After a number of years in varied roles in local businesses, utilising both a Diploma in Business and Diploma in Management, I found  myself being drawn more and more toward people, and less and less toward spreadsheets, and consequently my journey to counselling began.
