Important Dates for 24 – 25 School Year
♦ February 9, 2024 – AVID Applications Due
♦ February 28, 2024 – Elective Link Closes
♦ No later than April 1, 2024 – Course Request Sheets with CORE Course Recommendations Distributed

♦ Tentative Date: August 6, 2024 – 6th Grade Orientation with WEB

Course Review Process:
- Students and parents can request a schedule review for a CORE course placement using the form at the link below.
- Course reviews will take place after final grades and state testing scores are released in June. Decisions to change placement will follow the course progressions and will be communicated over the summer.
- Students and parents will be notified by July 1st if the course review was approved or denied.
Rising 7th and 8th Grade Parents:
Elective selection is live and will close February 27th. Students will choose their electives for the 24-25 school year in PE the week of February 20th. There is a short elective video posted below that highlights our elective selections and there are handouts posted below with elective selections and explanations listed. Students will use the link on the handout to select and rank their preferred elective choices.
Things to keep in mind:
- Every student will have P.E. in his or her schedule unless a parent signs a waiver for the student to be excluded from P.E.
- You can select a semester of PE if you do not want a full year.
- Semester electives get placed if you do not select a yearlong elective.
- Applying for these courses does NOT guarantee placement. Core classes scheduling and elective teacher recommendation are considered.

8th Grade Dance Guidelines Below
- Only 8th grade GRMS students are allowed to attend. No Guests from other schools permitted.
- Students may not attend if they have had a full day of ISS or OSS in 4th Quarter (begins March 19th)
- Permission to attend may be revoked by GRMS administration at any time.
- Students must attend school for the full day on Friday May 10th to attend the dance.
- SJCSD Code of Conduct will be enforced at the GRMS dance.
Please contact Dean Halloran if you are unsure of your student’s eligibility to attend the dance.

8th Grade Awards
Parents of 8th graders, an invitation to the awards ceremony will be sent next week. This program will recognize students having earned all As or all As and Bs. Additionally, teachers will be recognizing students for their outstanding achievement in a subject are, as well as those students who stood out for character or vast improvement. There will also be recognition for 8th graders who participated in Volleyball and Basketball. If you child does not receive an invitation by the end of next week and you are confident they should have, feel free to reach out to Mr. Wilson or Mrs. Cullipher via email. This event will take place in the GRMS gym on Tuesday, May 7th at 6 pm.

We want to celebrate our YRD, Deputy Rafael Fuentes! Deputy Fuentes was awarded the Deputy Jody Hull Jr. Award last weekend. This award goes to the YRD having made a significant contribution to the school and community. We are very proud and fortunate to have Deputy Fuentes serving our school. He goes above and beyond to build relationships with students, staff, and families while keeping them safe. Thank you Deputy Fuentes, you are the best! Dress Code Policy
The dress and grooming of our students should contribute to the health and safety of the individual, promote a positive educational environment and not disrupt the educational activities and processes of the school. Gamble Rogers Middle School follows the school district’s dress code guidelines explained in the 23-24 Student Code of Conduct
Provisional Transportation Waiver
The St. Johns County School District Provisional Transportation Waiver Program (PTWP) extends transportation services to students assigned to district schools based on space availability and criteria.

From The Front Office
Drop-Off Items
All items (clothes, shoes, monies, keys, books, etc.) Must Be In A Bag (except band instruments, homework and lunch boxes) labeled with the student’s name and grade.

Early Check-Out
If you need to take your student out of school early, the latest time that he/she can be picked up is at 1:20PM (12:20PM on Wednesdays). Only parents, guardians, or other individuals identified on the student’s contact list, with appropriate identification, will be allowed to check-out the student.
Food Policy
Stingray families — Parents will not be permitted to drop off food from outside sources to their student during the school day. This includes all fast food/restaurant meals.
School Clinic
If your child calls or texts you from their phone/watch and states they are not feeling well please request they see the nurse. From the clinic we can discuss next steps on your child’s return to class or pick up from the clinic.
Information Changes
It is imperative that parents call the school to change home phone numbers, cell numbers, work numbers and email addresses as soon as they are changed. In an emergency situation, it is difficult to contact parents when the information provided is not correct. Please contact Ms. Greve with changes.
Tdap immunization is required for all 7th graders
Proof of this immunization on the DH 680 form can be brought to the front office, faxed (904-547-8715), or emailed to Ms. Greve even if your student is still in 6th grade. Per district policy, all 7th grade students are required to submit an updated DH 680 form to include Tdap prior to the start of 7th grade. Failure to provide updated immunization records will delay your child’s start date.

FortifyFL is a website and app developed at the direction of the Florida Legislature. Any student, educator, parent or member of the public can report school safety concerns directly to law enforcement and school administrators anonymously and easily through the FortifyFL app or getfortifyfl.com.
2023-2024 Science Instructional Materials Adoption
The St. Johns County School District has begun the review process for the Science Instructional Materials Adoption. Once available, the digital resources will be posted on the Instructional Materials Adoption web page and available for review. The core resources that have been submitted for evaluation were selected from the state adoption consideration lists when available. Additional resources for advanced programs may be reviewed from materials listed as appropriate for the program indicated.
Some print materials may be available for review. If you would like access to the available printed materials or require assistance reviewing the online resources, please call the Instructional Resources and Media Services office at 904.547.3947. Materials are available for review from 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM when district offices are open.
We encourage parent and community participation in our adoption process. If you would like to serve on a school committee and formally review the resources as a part of the school review team, please contact any school or our office at 904.547.3947 by February 1, 2024. Committee membership is limited. School administrators will select the appropriate number of reviewers from the list of interested participants.

School Access
This is just a reminder that anyone (parent, guardian, friend, neighbor, aunt, uncle) must have school access to attend an event at Gamble Rogers Middle School, have lunch with a student and/or attend an awards assembly. If you have not already done so, please complete the School Access Form. The process for approval may take up to 4 weeks, so please fill out the application sooner than later for any guests that would like to have school access. Once the application is approved, school access will be valid for three years.
