Classroom and Special Area Spotlight!
Kindergarten: Mrs. Guertin
During the week before our December break, the kindergarten classes attended a field trip to Enfield High. Students partnered with the high school culinary classes to decorate Christmas cookies. Students got to eat one cookie and brought the extras home. Many thanks to Chef O at EHS, who is also an ESS parent, for helping us to create this memorable experience!
Grade 2: Mrs. Kilty
Room 14 spent the month of November learning about holidays and celebrations from around the world. The students enjoyed collecting knowledge and passport stamps from many countries. In this photo we were learning about St.Lucia day which is celebrated in Sweden.
Math: Mrs. Baroni & Mrs. Kibbe
Happy New Year Enfield Street families. In this new year let’s all make a goal to become stronger mathematicians.
Here are some ways to develop stronger math skills at home. While in the car give your child basic math facts to help with their addition and subtraction fluency. Play board games and card games and count different objects at home (like Legos, pasta, coins).
Important Information from Previous Newsletters
Monthly Assemblies
We will begin having monthly assemblies in which selected classrooms will be in the “spotlight”. We will only be inviting parents of those classrooms to attend the assembly. The dates will be listed in our newsletter and a reminder will be sent home so that you can plan accordingly and attend the designated assembly for your child’s classroom.
Upcoming PTO Fundraiser
iPad Insurance Extension
Due to overwhelming request, we would like to, once again, extend this opportunity to ALL of our families, in ALL schools, for one final opportunity to purchase insurance.
To join the Loss/Damage Waiver Opportunity Program, please
(1) Click > EPS iPad Insurance for more information.
(2) Print/fill out the form, or request a paper copy from the school.
(3) Choose your method of payment ($25)
Option 1: Log into PowerSchool and click on MySchoolBucks icon on the left-hand column. You are able to purchase the insurance there.
*You are NOT able to complete this in the PowerSchool App. You must go online to the website.
Option 2: Send in a check payable to: ENFIELD PUBLIC SCHOOLS
with your child’s name, school, and grade on the check.
(4) Send in the signed form indicating your choice of payment.
Deadline to Join: January 6th, 2023.
After the January 6th deadline, any uninsured iPads that are damaged will incur a $400.00 bill that will be sent home in the mail. We will work with you on payment options.
Headphones
All students were provided headphones at the beginning of the year for their iPads. We do not have any headphones to replace broken ones, therefore we are encouraging families to send in a set of headphones that can be used in the classroom. Please label your child's headphones.

Attendance Letters
Per district attendance procedures, attendance letters will be sent out for all absences, excused or unexcused, following this schedule:
5th absence – 1st Letter
9th absence - 2nd Letter
10th absence – 3rd Letter
Additional letters will be sent after every 5th absence. (ex. 15th, 20th, 25th)
Regardless of the content of the letters, if the majority of absences are excused as defined in the student handbook, we will most likely not reach out unless there are a large number of absences.
If the majority of the absences are unexcused as defined in the handbook, an administrator will be reaching out to offer available support to make sure your child comes to school on a regular basis.
