Health & Safety
Nurse's Notes
Please notify the school nurse at 860-253-6572 or at nnetherwood@enfieldschools.org if your child experiences a covid exposure or tests positive. Mrs. Netherwood will discuss with you the length of the quarantine and what testing is suggested.
Reminders for the new school year:
Water Bottles- Please provide your child with a reusable water each day. Students are not allowed to drink from water fountains around the school, but they may fill their water bottle at them. We encourage our students to drink water throughout the day. Drinking plenty of water helps alleviate many complaints of headaches, stomachaches and sore throats. Students have more energy, do better in school & sports and have fresher breath.
Breakfast- is free and available to any student again this school year.
Snacks- Please provide your child a snack each day. Every classroom has a special time for snack.
Masks- Please make sure your child has a “mask and a spare” for each day. Several spares if your child is wearing a “surgical” mask- the strings are breaking.
Curriculum & Instruction
Students who are absent & missed work
Students who are sick or absent for another reason, will receive missed work when they return to school.
Technology
iPad Insurance
We highly recommend families purchase insurance to cover the iPad and accessories in the event that they are damaged. Once students take the iPads home, families are liable for any potential missing or damaged items. iPads will be sent home with students every night.
If families would like to complete the required iPad paperwork and pay for insurance prior to the first day of school the EPS Student/Parent Technology Handbook, Enfield Public Schools Student/Parent iPad Usage Agreement, and the Student/Parent Technology Loss/Damage Waiver is attached below. Student's were given hard copies of these materials on the first day of school. The forms are to be returned as soon as possible and no later than October 15th.

Building Procedures
Important information...
Safety Info:
- Social Distancing: Staff and students will maintain at least 3 ft social distancing and will provide 6ft distance when possible.
- Masks: Staff and students are required to properly wear masks when on the school bus and in the building.
- Masks will not be worn during lunch and classroom teachers will provide hourly mask breaks throughout the day.
- Specials: Students will travel to specials classrooms. Students and staff will follow appropriate hygiene procedures between classroom transitions. Physical education classes may occur within the gym and/or outdoors (weather permitting).
- Water Bottles / Fountains: Students should bring a personal water bottle to school each day (no glass). School water fountains can be used for bottle refills only. Students will also have access to classroom water faucets.
- Hallways / Traffic Patterns: There will be designated patterns for directional foot-traffic within corridors through clearly labeled markings on the floors to minimize face-to-face contact of students.
- Lunch plan: Students will have lunch in the classroom or outside. Lunch will be available if you choose to have school lunch (menu on the EPS website).
- Recess: Each class will be assigned a designated area and time for recess. Students will wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before and after recess.
- Visitors to the building: Visitors are not permitted in the building unless it is an emergency and there has been prior approval by an administrator. SAT, 504, and PPT meetings will be held through the Teams platform.
- Students in grades K-5 will be assigned seats.
- Siblings can sit together.
- Students cannot change seats once they have been seated.
- Arrive at the school AM - Riders will disembark from the front of the bus to the back and should not touch any seats while getting off of the bus.
Things to know before the first day:
School Hours
- 8:40 AM – 3:06 PM (Pickups will begin dismissing at 3:06pm)
- Doors Open: 8:25 AM (Please do not arrive before this time)
- School will start at 8:40 AM and students may get to school any time AFTER 8:25 AM. There will be many teachers on duty the first day to help you find your room, so don’t worry.
- If your family is driving you in a car before school, please let them know that they can drop you off on the curb, by the glass vestibule near the gymnasium after 8:25 AM. If you arrive to school before 8:25 AM your family must wait with you in the car until the doors open. This is very important to do because staff are not on bus duty until this time. To keep arrival routines smooth, please gather your belongings before arriving at the platform and be ready to exit the car quickly.
- When you arrive, you and your friends will go right into your classroom to start the day and begin learning all about important routines. Your teacher is so excited to be with you and get to know you!
- Pickups will begin dismissing at 3:06PM. If you get picked up from school, your teacher will release you to your guardian directly from the classroom’s exterior back door (see map below). All guardians must park their car, bring their ID, and come up to the exterior classroom door to pick up their child. Refer to attached map for classroom locations. Please do not arrive before 3:06PM, as this could be disruptive to instructional time. Please do not congregate on school grounds during this time.
- You will have a working snack time. Please remember to bring your snack each day.
- Remote learning is not an option this year. Students will be expected to attend school in person five days a week.
PPT, 504, and SAT Meetings
Community Health Center (CHC)
CHC is accepting students in need of behavioral health services. CHC is working hard to connect with families, and look to their partners to help them meet the needs of students in this changing and unknown environment.
