Classroom and Special Area Spotlight!
Kindergarten: Mrs. Carroll
Kindergarteners in room 10 are expanding their letter and sound knowledge in addition to their number sense. We are applying our letters and sounds to making and reading high frequency words and to beginning to label our own writing. In math, we are counting numbers 1-10, composing numbers 1-10, and writing numbers 1-10. We are learning about the very community that we are settled into. We are talking a lot about the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. There is so much to be thankful for this year!
Kindergarten: Mrs. Guertin
The students in Room 1 have been working hard to become illustrators and authors. We recently celebrated becoming illustrators who can use shapes to make pictures and color neatly to tell our stories. We are labeling pictures to tell readers information. We say a word, listen for the first sound, then think about what letter makes that sound and write it! We are starting with labeling the first sound in words and are working toward writing many sounds we hear in words. Here is our illustrator board as well as Mrs. Guertin modeling how to use labels!
First Grade: Ms. Moffett
In Room 6 we have started our “How To” unit in writing! We watched demonstrations of how to make orange juice, how to bake a cake, and how to make a sandwich. We wrote our recipes step by step and included the materials and ingredients. We added illustrations and labels too. We are excited to share our recipes at home with our families!
Second Grade: Mrs. Kilty
The students in room 14 enjoyed learning about the lives of children in colonial Connecticut. They learned that students wore many layers of clothing and they had to wear the same clothes every day. They also learned how children I colonial times stayed busy with work and play without modern conveniences!
Math: Mrs. Baroni and Mrs. Kibbe
Over Thanksgiving break we'd love to see some math being done at home. Have your child help you cook and measure out the ingredients. Have them set the table and add up all the plates, silverware, etc. Make it fun and be creative.
Happy Thanksgiving - Mrs. Kibbe & Mrs. Baroni

KITE
KITE (Key Initiatives to Early Education) is working to update Enfield’s Early Childhood Community Plan. This plan will help form the strategies and initiatives that will benefit families with young children here in town. And we need your input!
Please use the QR code to access a VERY short survey to learn what resources will best serve families as well as current challenges. If you would like to participate in a later focus group to share more of your thoughts, you can leave your contact information on the form and we will be in touch. You are your children’s first teacher and advocate, and we want to support families in these formative years.
For completing the survey, you’ll be entered into our raffle drawing to win one of multiple $25 gift cards with a choice of: Visa, Amazon, Target, or Grocery Store!

Breakfast and Lunch
**TEMPORARILY** FREE for All Students for month of November
We will provide at least a month notice to families letting you know when meals will return to Paid, Reduced, and Free meals.
Attendance Letters
Per district attendance procedures, attendance letters will be sent out for all absences, excused or unexcused, following this schedule:
5th absence – 1st Letter
9th absence - 2nd Letter
10th absence – 3rd Letter
Additional letters will be sent after every 5th absence. (ex. 15th, 20th, 25th)
Regardless of the content of the letters, if the majority of absences are excused as defined in the student handbook, we will most likely not reach out unless there are a large number of absences.
If the majority of the absences are unexcused as defined in the handbook, an administrator will be reaching out to offer available support to make sure your child comes to school on a regular basis.
