Steven King was promoted to Assistant AD for Corporate Sales and Broadcasting in Jan. 2022 after previously serving as Director of Corporate Sales since June 2012. He oversees all corporate sales for Islanders Athletics, working in conjunction with the marketing, ticketing, development, and media relations staffs in this area.

King also handles the play-by-play duties for a number of sports for Islander Athletics. He has been the voice of Islanders men's basketball for all but three years of the program's history and expanded that role to the volleyball and soccer programs. In addition, he has produced and hosted the Islanders Coach's Show since its inception.

King started working with Islanders Athletics in the 1999-00 campaign, serving as the team's public address announcer. He's continued that role for the Islanders in baseball, softball, volleyball, tennis and cross country programs as needed.

The Corpus Christi native previously worked with local radio station KSIX as a sports talk radio host, also selling advertising for the station, from 2004-12. He has also worked with the Corpus Christi IceRays hockey team in doing public address work and in-game promotions at their home contests.

King is an alumnus of Incarnate Word Academy who later matriculated from Southwest Texas State (now Texas State) with a bachelor’s degree in management. He is also a longtime volunteer for the Special Olympics and has volunteered with the American Cancer Society. King resides in Corpus Christi.
