The California Latino Capitol Association Foundation (CLCAF) is proud to announce its annual Internship Program. Every year, a group of students have the opportunity to intern for an Assemblymember, State Senator, State Agency, Non-profit, or an Advocacy Organization in Sacramento, CA. The CLCAF Internship Program strives to provide students, particularly from underserved communities (first-generation, low-income, students of color), a chance to gain a meaningful professional experience in public service. CLCAF interns are trained, mentored, and supported by experienced Capitol staff. Program participants are also given professional and academic development workshops along with educational webinars to foster their growth.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, our summer internship was transitioned to a virtual experience for the past 3 years to abide by safety protocols, but this year we are excited to be offering a HYBRID internship, where local community college students will have the opportunity to work in-person and students who live further away (i.e. Central or Southern CA), will be able to partake in a remote internship. Please note that all majors are encouraged to apply.

At the conclusion of the internship, students will receive a $500 scholarship and CLCAF will host a virtual ceremony for the students and their family to recognize their work and contributions.

Internship criteria include the following:
1. Student must be currently enrolled in a California Community College (Please note that high school students who are dually enrolled are unfortunately not eligible to apply),
2. Be available to intern 15-20 hours per week for the duration of the internship program,
3. Have an interest in public policy, government, public service, or community service, and
4. Have good academic standing, with a minimum a 2.0 GPA, and
5. Meet all the program requirements as deemed by the Internship Coordinator, CLCAF, and your office, and
6. If you are interning in-person, have the ability to arrange transportation to the Capitol, since this will not be covered or reimbursed.
