Covid-19 Vaccines at Georgia Tech

Covid-19 vaccines are available at Georgia Tech for students.

Vaccine Update as of September 22, 2023

On September 11, 2023, the FDA approved the administration of updated Covid vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna that provide enhanced coverage against new variants of Covid. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices subsequently approved new recommendations for the updated Covid vaccines. Stamps Health Services has received the updated vaccine and will be distribution the week of September 25.

The federal government is no longer distributing Covid vaccine free of charge to organizations that administer the vaccine. Covid vaccine must now be purchased from commercial vendors, and Georgia Tech is no exception.

Each administration costs $145. To minimize the cost of the vaccine to students, Stamps is adjusting its processes for administration of Covid vaccine to utilize our pharmacy to administer Covid vaccine. This will enable us to bill insurance for the cost of the vaccine for most students who have insurance, including those with the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) through United Healthcare and those with insurance other than SHIP (with the except of Kaiser and Tricare).

Stamps is working on a process for students who do not have any insurance, but, for now, students without insurance are encouraged to utilize outside providers such as CVS or Walgreens, that are part of the government’s Bridge program.

   Vaccine Appointments

Students can schedule for a vaccine appointment at Stamps Health Services through the Patient Portal by following these instructions: How to Schedule a Covid Vaccine Appointment. There will be limited appointments each day, but appointments will be scheduled Monday through Friday during office hours instead of specific Vaccine Clinic days.

At this time Stamps is providing Covid vaccine to students. Faculty and staff should seek the updated Covid vaccine from providers in the community, such as CVS or Walgreens, the county health department, or their primary care provider.
